Just watching BBC News now with Ocean steaming up the Thames, and on deck, I spied one of the Black Cats Lynx HM.8. So guess the airshow season has started early for them :ok::cool: for the residents around the river then!

Looked to my totally untrained eye like their season nearly ended early too as Ocean almost side swiped the Thames barrier on the way past. They can't be happy with getting that close surely? :eek:

Looked like the stern tug was at full bore trying to bring the back end over away from calamity.
An aerial shot brings the flight deck within almost touching distance....I think the captain will be very very relieved that the shiny metal of the flood barrier didnt have a lasting memory of HMS Ocean for PPRUNE ers to blast on about!!

Except for the Chinook ( I am biased), helicopter displays are like wa*ki*g: great for the one doing it, not so great for the ones watching it.......:E

Humm, Leon I would tend to agree. Except maybe for the display that the Fleet Air Arm put on at Farnborough in 1988 (if memory serves, 5 Sea Kings, 2 Lynx, The Sharks (4 x Gazelle) and 6 SHAR just to add massively to the noise factor).

Slight thread drift related to the above.
I was watching a program about a US Aircraft carrier going into dry dock for service, the gap either side was a few inches and the Officer of the Deck on the bridge was a female Lt. The Captain praised her at the end for a good job.
You wouldn't want to put a dent into one of those in a hurry if you wanted a long term Navy career.

when you see a Lynx loop and roll in the same display its not boring....
When I was a kid we used to watch the prototypes perform at Bunford Lane - Trevor Egginton and his pals certainly had a way with them
Not seen one do either for ages though. Are the Army Lynx too heavy now to do it? the Navy Lynx always were......

Whats intriguing are comments that three Green Lynx from 661 will be the only helicopters based on Ocean, yet those photos also show Grey Lynx being worked on - and an SK4 landing
