Some absolute beauties there....prsonally, I'd love to see (and hear!) a Westland Wyvern restored to flying condition.. .. .A TSR2 would be nice as well, if only to invite comparisons with the Tornado!

I'd like to see an original Ju87 take to the skies and perform a simulated dive bomb attack at an airshow, siren screaming and everything. Ugly, evil looking aircraft but fascinating nevertheless.. .. .I'd also love to see a flying Hawker Tempest V or Typhoon. These probably aren't impossible restorations, after all, in the last 20 years in NZ we've seen Harvards, Spitfires, Mustangs, a Corsair, an Avenger, a Bf109G-10, a Hawker Hurricane MK I, and many other historic aircraft take to the skies.. .. .Kermie

Do the Canadians stilltake some of the collection at Ottawa out one or two days a year? Remember being tremendously impressed walking into one or the old hangers and seeingthe biggest, roundest MLG tire I ever saw then looking upo and up and up and just before falling over backwards it was a Lanc. With a 10gal can under each engine to catch the dripping oil. Even smelt like a hanger is supposed to.. .. .They had (have) a Norseman that was flyable then. It was the Fokker D-VII and some other early stuff that would be great to see flying.. . . . [ 13 March 2002, 12:59: Message edited by: Iron City ]

There is a Tempest V under rebuild in the UK for Kermit Weeks, fitted with a Napier Sabre engine.. .. .There's some doubt whether it will fly because of the powerplant's reputation.. .Be nice to see it though, and compare it to the Tempest II's and Sea Furies under restoration or repair in the UK.. .. .Mark

This replica is an excellent example of sensible modification of the original design. No doubt the washout dramatically improves the handling at low speeds by making the Comet's tip-stalling vice less likely! A decent hydraulic system and modern instruments seem reasonable as well!. .. .Love to have a go in it!

FYI:. .. .Weeks Air Museum Closed. .. .The Weeks Air Museum, located at the Kendall Tamiami Executive Airport, closed Sunday July 22, 2001. Founder and President Kermit Weeks announces that the Museum will be moved to The EAA Sun 'n Fun Museum in Lakeland, FL. Following several months of discussions, the Boards of each organization recently reached unanimous agreement that the Weeks Air Museum aircraft would be displayed at the Lakeland location.. .. .The Weeks Air Museum opened in 1985 and displayed historic vintage aircraft, many of which were operational. Visitors could find a four engine Boeing B-17 Bomber, a P-51 Mustang fighter or a Beechcraft Staggerwing (the Lear Jet of the 1930's) among the 20 plus aircraft that were on display. The Museum was actively involved in organizing flight demonstrations, tours for school groups and was used for private and corporate parties.. .. .In August of 1992 , Hurricane Andrew destroyed the building housing the Museum resulting in prolonged closure while the structure was rebuilt. Each of the 36 aircraft on display sustained varying degrees of damage. Two large aircraft that were tied down outside were heavily damaged and transported over a mile from the Museum by the severe winds of the hurricane. Several of the aircraft have since been rebuilt, but others still await their turn.. .. .Museum President Kermit Weeks has said that several considerations prompted the move, with financial concerns being foremost. The annual attendance has not been enough to cover rising costs and the Museum lease will expire in 2003. At that point, projected Museum income would be inadequate to cover operating costs and pending increases in the building lease, therefore, the Board of Directors began to seek alternatives.. .. .Preliminary discussion were initiated with Sun 'n Fun officials who indicated that there was space at the Lakeland location to house the entire Weeks Air Museum collection. The similarity of concepts and goals of the two organizations made the decision logical. The Weeks aircraft will add significantly to the Sun 'n Fun Museum display and to the aviation story it can tell.. .. .Mr. Weeks said that, "the volunteers and employees of Weeks Air Museum have been great and always very supportive. Without their dedication we would not have come as far as we have. It is with regret that we leave Miami, but we are excited about the future possibilities in Lakeland."

That Ju287 looks really neat. A lot like the Arado 234 except for the forward swept wings.. .. .Would love to see all of the previously mentioned aircraft flying again especially the Sabre engined Tempest. Re the Sabre's reputation, Napier ran one for 3,000 hours continuously to demonstrate to the RAF that the RAF's maintenance procedures for the Sabre were more suited to the Merlin. Shows that the 25 hour TBO (yup 25 hour) was not really justified........... . .. .Wouldn't want to belly land or ditch one though. Very few people got away with that. LowNSlow - think you've got quite a while to wait on that Beau. The TFC boys were tentatively estimating another five years when I spoke to them last summer, as they've got all sorts of hurdles to overcome; the joys of being the first organisation to restore one to fly!
