Hi all,

Ok here is the issue.

I have a CPL ME-CIR from CASA(Australia) the instrument rating is valid till 31st of may 2012.

I am currently starting a b1900 type rating in south africa.

The question is: Would my instrument rating be re-validated as I finish the B1900 type?

Dont worry about your ir. I think will be automaticly renewal with your type rAting because your IR will be associated with your type rating

Thanks for the reply.

But the TRTO said they do not re validate the IR as part of the initial rating. Does it mean that CASA would automatically renew it once they put the TR on my Licence?

Thanks a mill

What licence are you adding the rating to? South African or Australian?

Iam going to put it on my australian licence, I don't have any other country of issue. And the tr is in south africa, no need for validation or conversion. thankss

I'm curious, I googled B1900 South Africa and none of the schools state that they have CASA approval as a TRTO, so what exactly is your plan?

I am doing it with Simuflight.

I checked with CASA for the approval to put it on the licence, they told me that they require me to give 4 things: form 209 which i fill it. - approval for training from SA authority - training record - certificate of completion... I showed them the approval for training and they said its ok. So no problem for that side.

Any info you can share on the TR IR renewal thing ?

Its an interesting approach by CASA, and extremely different to the JAA or FAA. They are making life easy for you. I dont know the answer to your IR question.

Hehe, my life will be easier if they renew my IR auto. :E

Thanks for the chat.

Anyone who knows the answer please do tell me.

Silly question, but is B1900 multi pilot? If so, I presume it's training will do zero to renew single pilot IR rating.

The type rating is normally an IR as well. So it's not a revalidation of the ME IR you did in Australia but you'll still have a valid IR just only for the B1900, it's not a multicrew aircraft so it counts as a single crew IR, whether you can use it to fly MEP or SEP under IFR probably depends on the country you're in.

Why do you still want your ME IR valid?

Well isn't it required when you apply to most of freighters or airlines that you need your ME CIR current...
