it seems that some airlines seem to think that their PEOPLE are actually an asset, and are proud to say so.

BRITISH AIRWAYS: YouTube - British Airways people and planes over the last 90 years

DELTA AIRLINES: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iqjrB-cYxX0

sorry if this has been posted before, but it is interesting in this day and age to see what s happening around the world with regards the rhetoric put out by some airlines.
Of course, some airlines contnue to praise the staff, but then want to sack them or make the work for third word cnditions.

maybe one day we will see this type of respect in oz?
I am surprised JB hasnt done this type of ad yet.

I went to University with Nathan who is the Qantas pilot in the first video. It was a hard Uni course...the training at Qantas was harder...I am impressed. I remember Uni being really hard!

Yes apache, this rhetoric has been going around for many months now, in an effort for Airlines to RE-connect with their WORKFORCE. This is to make them feel VALUED because there has been a huge DISCONNECTION with management (evidenced through multiple in-house surveys) with numerous Airlines globally, due to stupid, impetuous management decisions only monkeys could make.
Sad thing is management bonuses keep rolling in while staff get laid off or undercut...
(QF? Having been there, those vids above are nothing but spin, like I mentioned... "80 years of safe Aviation history"! Yeh right, Do your research... Bangkok for a start...and it doesn't end there! :ugh:)

Behavior that is rewarded does not change. Why would it?

A lot of really smart people are employed as psychologists. Not with the idea of helping people, but with the idea of convincing the mainstream working and or middleclass (thats me) that their brand is brilliant, smarter, more caring, better for the environment etc. Using emotions in ads, such as the ones that make you shed a tear when you watch them, thats really very clever. I am not so sure if it is very ethical, making people think of their dead father or similar to get them to buy a product, but anyway, it happens . And people get paid a lot of money to do it. LOove love love the Gruen Transfer, Sam is hot!
