An Onur Air Airbus A300B4-605R (leased in by Saudi Arabian Airlines), performing positioning fllight SV-2865, from Madinah-Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Airport - MED/OEMA to Jeddah International Airport - JED/OEJN. There were only 10 crewmembers on board.
When approaching runway 16L of Jeddah International Airport the flight crew decided to abort the approach after receiving a "nose gear unssafe" indication. Attempts to solve the problem failed and the Airbus subsequently landed at runway 16L with a retracted nose gear causing substantial damage to the aircraft.

Just in case you were wondering why Jeddah was down to single runway operations.....

Hey Mutt, what's up with the third runway in JED? Has it ever been open?

It was open when I arrived in 2007, then they closed 16R for resurfacing, on completion they closed 16L and redid that and all the associated taxiways and once that was complete they started with 16C, which should almost be done by now, but it has taken since 2007 to complete.

The center runway was finished and ready to open, but then they got the approval to build the new airport complex, so parts of the runway were dug up to aid the construction.

I expect it to reopen circa 2014.
