Apparently some of the 30 VIP configuration seats were uprooted. With the right wing taking the impact, lucky it did not catch alight. :ok:

The French manufactured Thai Air-force ATR72-500 that is operated by the Royal Thai Air Force was written off yesterday in a crash in Dhaka (http://www.gogoflorist.com/blog/2012/05/thai-air-force-atr72-passenger-plane-crashes-in-bangladesh-write-off/), the capital of Bangladesh. Airport sources said that a primary investigation revealed that at 8:51am (local) the pilot under instruction lost control of the aircraft because of a crosswind. Of the 15 people on board, eight were Thai Air Force pilots on a cross country familiarization exercise. They were flight planned to continue to Delhi the next day, 1st May.

so you don't use it.. we used to fly turboprops. Dhaka is plenty long to land in beta with no brakes, let alone with.

I agree with the above.....while Dhaka is an awful place, the runway is more than adequate for an ATR...

Some very fortunate people on that aircraft. One of the non flying pilots arm was cut by the propeller!! Only stitches required.
