There is a few similar threads for pics in different threads, but none I can find on Africa. Im sure you guys get to fly out of a multitude of different environments, and see all sorts of weird and wonderful flying machines.

I invite you all to share our pics with the PPrune community! Cant wait to see what you guys get up to!

Hi there,

absolutely true, it is so hard to find photos of aircraft taken in Africa, despite the ones from the very southern tip.

I do have a few on airliners.net, you can see all my photos here: Photo Search Results | Airliners.net (http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?photographersearch=Felix%20Gottwald&distinct_entry=true)
I have also started a facebook page that you are welcome to "like". I am just busy putting up some pictures from Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta and Wilson Airport on there. Here is the link: Felix Gottwald - Aviation Photography | Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/felixgottwaldaviationphotography)

I am also looking forward for some pics,

Even showing a camera in a lot of places in Africa is liable to attract a "fine" or the loss of your camera. Paranoia reigns supreme but it's also a handy way to extract currency from those who are presumed to have it.

I remember trying to explain the concept of 'Google Earth' to one of these clever, camera shy personages at one of these 'super secret' airfields in some or other s***-hole. He utterly failed to grasp the concept. I moved on to the basics then, you know, the earth is round, satellites in orbit, all that stuff. I even mentioned that somebody had actually landed on the moon. It was worth a laugh or two. Definitely didn't believe me at all.

What a shame. I am really interested to see some of the strips you fly into and the day to day scenery

Taking pictures in most of Africa is detrimental to your health. Do not dare take out a camera , you might not leave the country. Just back from FZQA and FZAA and that rule still stands. There are too many people with loaded AK47's walking around feeling important.
You may not take photo's but the locals can walk on or next to the runway while you taxi land or take off. :ugh::ugh::ugh:

The authorities seem to believe that the only reason someone might want to take photographs at an airport is to plan something sinister. The Idea goes long back in the time, probably to the 70's wave of terrorism. Even when the JKIA observation deck was still open it was strictly no cameras.

Pics from the smallest strips might be possible as there might be no authorities guarding... From there I present a classic:

...Or at least the authority above is not interested in your camera :}
