Posting this on SWMBO's machine. Have tried several times to add to threads from my machine but all I get is a continuous "connecting" and no progress ... any thoughts anyone, please?

parts of the forum clearly have a problem tonight

the military forum has been going off / on regularly. I suspect server issues - maintenance maybe???

None that I'm aware of, and I'm using FF 11 and 12 on my 2 PCs .

Likewise.

It can't be the site, it must be what we had for tea. http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/smilies/bah.gif

I'm now hearing of multiple complaints about site access yesterday evening. I have to say I didn't notice any problems myself.

Yup, OFSO couldn't post to JB yesterday evening (1800z-2200z), also the old "can't copy and paste" problem was back and so was the "can't reply" problem. Seems alright today if a teensy-weensy bit slow.

Using FF, "Waiting for pprune.org" and waiting, and waiting.........

Saab

symptoms I got were simply a blank screen with the message "site unavailable"

I'd guess at a swamped server. DDOS attack maybe?
Of had someone scrambled the DNS settings? A poisoned DNS server somewhere could do it

Three hours later, all sweetness & light* again.

* Well, as close as you get on here.

Milo,

I believe that your first surmise was not too far from the truth.

There were other issues of a purely local nature as well to compound the problem

If writing a longish piece, I often find that when I go to 'submit' I get a blank screen with a message that I have 'timed out' or some such, and yesterday I found that, as described above, the little hourglass thing just went around and around, and after about 15 mins. I got the timed out 'gotcha', and when I re-signed in all my careful composition had gone forever Grrrr!!

In that situation next time, I'll highlight and copy, and if I have to start again at least I can paste my work into the new blank page. Maybe.

I usually save it in notepad then delete it when it's gone through.

Looks like the servers overloaded

If someone is trying another DDOS attack it wouldn't take much to push it over the edge. Just reload the page - it'll pop up eventually

I'm seeing the (same?) problem, and I've reported it.

The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Same here, and I'm 25 miles from the IB Servers.

Not that it makes any difference. :}

It seems to me that if I'm idle for a few minutes, it tosses me off.

I've been finding this for a few days, with many different sites on the web.
I wonder if it's anything to do with the DNS trojan perhaps reducing the capability of the web overall?

Can anybody see this post? I think there is a problem with my profile configuration. My posts disappear off the threads when I log out. When I do log in it’s only me that can see them. :oh:
