Hi
What is the purpose of the altitude warning alert? Is this configured for a particular altitude depending on the destination as a general warning?
(saw this on a 737 landing video)
thanks

It warns the crew that the aircraft is passing 1000ft from the level or altitude that the aircraft is set to level off at.

The Altitude alert warning indicates the Aircraft is within 300ft of the selected heading either approaching it by light indication or moving away after crossing it by a light & horn Indication.

Its normally used as a reminder to the crew to act at that particular altitude.

In the 60s,70s and 80s it told the crew the aircraft was descending through FL100 above the ground as a safety warning for the "clockwork instrument" Flight Deck but for the life of me I can't remember if it was fitted to the "all glass intrument" Flight Deck perhaps Torque tonight would tell me
