737-400 belonging to Shaheen, not a good week in Pakistan.

During landing run on runway 25L, the left maingear failed allowing the gear strut to penetrate throught the upper wing root area until the left wing came came into ground contact. All on board remained unhurt and left the 737 via mobile airstairs on the runway. Substantial damage occured.

..and this was one of their youngest and recently acquired aircraft i presume...compared to the -200s that they operate.

Its early days to tell what exactly caused this gear collapse but the Pakistan CAA did ground all the aircraft of private operators to undergo inspections. Why was PIA exempt from this? Did their aircraft undergo these inspections?

also its a bit strange that the media reports say pax were evacuated using mobile stairs. One would have expected an evacuation via slides.we still have to get an initial report on that.
