Well British Europeans invasion of the Newcastle scheduled service scene continues this week when they announced a new route, NCL-IOM. Rumour has it that they have applied for Gills former route licenses from NCL to ABZ and DUB!. .. .This is in addition to their current programme of 4 daily CDG flights;. . 2 daily BRU flights;. . 5 daily BHD flights and their new scheduled JER service. With the summer approaching and the start of their numerous charter services this now makes BE the second largest scheduled operator.. .. .So any ideas of the next new routes? Will the BACE Size & Shape review reveal any surprises? Or will the following comment, found the one of the local rags become true, in the fact that GO will establish a base?. .. ."Adding other destinations is a certain possibility. At GO we start with one destination and build from there."

Greetings Toontartcart, . .. .This is good news for NCL, if it materialises (ABZ/DUB). .. .NCL-IOM is incorporated into the early outbound BHD, and the last inbound operating BHD-IOM-NCL initially. This could initiate the Dash 200 leaving NCL and all flights ops on the 300 as the BHD run has excellent load factors. Any leisure NCL-IOM pax would really ensure a requirement for extra capacity, greater than what the 200 can provide.. .. .The fourth NCL-CDG is being sold now to operate from 02 April. It is on the CRJ, which leaves NCL at month end to be based in CDG. The aircraft will operate CDG-NCL-BRU-NCL early morning, daystop, then operate NCL-BRU-NCL-CDG in the afternoon providing an evening CDG departure planned for 1915. This useage therefore incorporates the BRU schedule also.. .. .NCL-VCE-NCL is also a feature of the summer for BE.. .. .GO-FLY's alledged statement in the local rag of "Adding other destinations is a certain possibility, At GO we start with one destination and build from there" is complete rubbish. EMA has gained a full base with a nice collection of routes from the outset, as did Bristol last year.. .. .The performance of NCL-STN-NCL is proving its worth, and the addition of a further route this year looks quite likely. A base can not be ruled out, however considering the start of the EMA services, and competition on the DUB/BFS sectors, consolidation would be wise before a NCL expansion. Low cost however is a relatively untouched market at NCL, and a well overdue demand exists. Any takers?. .. .AIR SCANDIC has added an extra weekly flight for Summer 2002 and will operate NCL-TFS-NCL(Friday).. .. .Cheers,. .. .starship . . . . [ 16 March 2002, 13:36: Message edited by: starship ]
