Not sure if this is the right area to post this but does anyone have an update on these?

Last I heard they had been sold to a company in Miami and that they were being prepared to fly. As far as I can tell they are still in Athens though?

Yep all four to be delivered to Apollo Aviation Group in Miami, they're still on the ground at Athens I believe.

They would have been ideal for Iran!

IIRC, these were to be ferried to the USA and then parted out there.

Yes so i'm led to believe. Sure they have some life in them, maybe there is a chance they coul be leased to someone.

With non-existent maintenance logs, those birds won't be flying anywhere soon... :ugh:

I thought maybe they would be going to Air Nigeria (Virgin Nigeria). They are looking for 3 or 4 A340s!

Just for the record, they aren't Olympic Air's A340s. Olympic Air, which is the current, private sector airline has never owned, leased or operated them. They actually belonged to the Greek Government who leased them to the state-owned Olympic Airlines and Olympic Airways. At privatisation the new company had no use for them as there was no intention of long haul flights, so the government put them up for sale, along with all but 4 of the other planes in the old Olympic fleet.
