Hi All,
Anyone been through this process yet and care to share their experiences for the rest of us? I know there's already an EK interview thread but I'm hoping some DEC candidates will share what happened to them as it may be different to the FO selection.

I've heard all the dec's are coming from BA and they won't even have to interview.

GMC... "I've heard....." really? Who from?

Actually I haven't seen one from BA yet, and I can guarantee you that they all have to do the selection process

For heaven's sake Fart, have you ever heard of SARCASM.:ugh:

Fair point, however given some of the drivel I've seen on this forum there was always the possibility.....Some of the rumours I've heard in the training college and flight deck regarding DEC's are way more far out than GMC's 'sarcasm'.

Then why not share the gems with us, Farty?

We all desperately need a good laugh after that box-stuffing hello bs.

Why do i somehow sense a deep censure for information here.
Hmmm...
Don't worry guys. DEC's aren't all bad. Trust me!
You shall be one someday.

A380,

Wouldn't it only be other DEC candidates that could provide the information being requested? The vast majority of EK pilots went through the FO selection process, about which plenty of info is provided on this forum. The DECs already here underwent another process which would not be very helpful now. To expect the recruitment team to come on here and tell you what to do seems a bit lazy.

So it would seem that it is not the EK pilots that are keeping the secrets but the wanna be DECs.

Apology on a postcard to ALL EK PILOTs.com.

Just saying.

Gentleman. A genuine question please.
Say you are a B777 captain currently and selected for the DEC programme. Presuming that you are offered to fly the 777 with EK, what is the expected time one may expect in which to be fully operational with EK as captain on the same. Time frame from the date of joining to say your first solo as captain.
Can we also have the same timeframe if say you're flying a boeing and offered a bus. Thanks in advance guys.
Cheers now.

Yep DD....
Still sniffing. Thanks for asking.
And yes if it wasn't for that '18k+ Villa job' i would've long joined.
Thus the double mindedness.

At least in your lot they allow you to comment. The National Carrier I work for is prohibited from making any comments here.

Time frame from the date of joining to say your first solo as captain.

I suppose these are the CRM skills we can expect from the new DECs.

Gents: Bunktime asked a genuine question. Can someone please offer some info? :D

Thanks Dashim. But I wouldn't be biting my nails in wait for the reply. There seems to be a short supply of those in here. Decent replies that is.
But such is life.
Thanks anyways. Still await some intel on my query.....lol.
Cheers

As nobody in EK wants to tell you anything about DEC time although I would have thought those like Wiz would let me tell you what happens in SIA as an example for DEC's.

In SIA regardless of whether you were already rated on type (and most DEC's were not) you still did the full ground school and sim but were let off the circuits if already rated. Providing there was no delay in getting to the sim which in SIA often happened ( in my case being sent on two weeks forced leave after just finishing ground school) I was checked out on the line 3 months after joining. I would have thought EK would be the same kind of timescale??
