San Francsico based 'Tacocopter' have ordered no less than 60 robotic quad-copters which are to be used to make home deliveries of Mexican food throughout the San Franciso area.

The computer controlled helicopter, once loaded with its cargo, will fly using GPS coordinates provided by the customer's phone. The quad-copters will then identify a location outside the building (using constantly up-dated Google Earth maps) where it will establish a hover at a pre-set height above the ground. Once hovering outside the customer's house the quad-copter will activate an automated voice call to the customer advising them that their delivery has arrived. Customers will then be given two digit numerical code which they must enter on their phone and which will release the food package.

Having released its package the quad-copter will return to the restaurant rooftop where Tacocopter owner, Ned O'Flaherty, is planning to keep a 'nest' of the rotary robots.

San Francisco Major, Ed Lee, said that should Tacocopter's newfangled service prove successful, he would encourage San Francisco's numerous China Town restaurants to copy Tacocopter's model citing the initiative as a "ground breaking force in home delivered food" and an "environmental revolution" which would reduce the city's carbon emissions.
