Hi,

So Im still at university and have already applied for the BA FPP, unsuccessfully! I've heard a lot of rumours about the FPP possibly closing due to tax issues! does anyone else know some stuff about what's really going on?

Flyboy,

The truth is that at the moment no one knows what the plans are with the FPP. However, if it were to close, it would not be because of 'tax reasons', whatever that might be.

There is no real threat to the FPP, aside from complete economic meltdown. BA saw a need for a number of pilots, and decided that half of those should come from the FPP. Those pilots are still needed as it stands, albeit maybe not quite as soon as BA had planned. The most likely hold is a blockage of training resource with the integration of BMI, but this should clear soon enough.

DEP recruitment has stopped temporarily, but that doesn't affect FPP.

Stop worrying, you're still at uni and should have plenty to keep yourself occupied. Use the wait as a gift, you have time to make yourself more selectable next time round, the more time, the more opportunities you can make for yourself.

Perhaps the OP was reffering to the announcement that BA were scaling back their recruitment plans, blaming the proposed APD rise rather than other 'tax' reasons?
