Hi

Recently been using a machine equipped with a sandel 3308.
Been working fine but last flight the hdg bug has 'locked' and cannot be moved. Not sure if it's a mystery setting I may have activated?

It's constantly aligned with the hdg of the aircraft but am unable to change it using the adjuster knob.
Anyone have some insight to this piece of equipment? As the user manual has yielded nothing beneficial.

Not yet, as I'm not sure if it's a fault

It's got me buggered

So you are saying that the CP has not ensured that you are fully competent on the aircraft he has authorized you to fly. Hmmm, interesting.

Hey Bounce,
You could try googling the Sandel site and go to the 'contact us' for 'support', it just MAY be sumphin' simple....(?)
They are easy to find.....

In the meantime, does this 'fault' make the aircraft U/S?
(Wot does your MEL say..??)

Cheers:ok:

Checked sync button but releasing as normal (checked with sub menu)
The aircraft is fully serviceable as its a passive rh instrument.

Have you tried the SN3308 version of CTL-ALT-DEL
Hold down BRG-NAV-MAP when powering up.
(procedure to remove it from demo mode)

That's all I've got????:hmm:

Is the fault temperature related? I've heard of this happening with cold and hot temps. In one instance, reseating the unit helped.

Unfortunately, in most cases, the fault is with the heading selector knob, which isn't a potentiometer, but a digital shaft encoder. If that's the case, it's a factory or if you're lucky, a field replacement/repair.

Definitely not a settings issue.
