Hello,

I need your advice regarding a Flight School based in Fort Worth, Tx. They have held on to my over $5000 since the year 2008 when i was a student pilot there. I have done everything possible to recover my money but to no avail. Including making complaints to the Federal Trade Commission(FTC), Better Business Bureau(BBB) and Office of the Attorney General Texas. All these organizations have querried them regarding my complain. But they school refuses to even respond to their querries. I contracted the services of an attorney some years ago to help me pursue the case legally, but had to stop when i could not longer afford the $300/hr legal fee of the attorney. I believe that the flight school knowing that i was a foreign student from a poor country, have taking advantage of that and refused to respond to querries of mediating organizations. The figure out that i would not be able to afford to hire an attorney to pursue my case, and they also know that only a law court and not BBB, FTC or office of the Attorney general can compel them to respond. I welcome any advice,:sad: as the action of this Flight School has caused me untold misery and hardship in both my career and life in the last 4yrs. Thanx

You may have to pay the sheriff a visit and explain yourplight. Try giving them a phone callfirst. Perhaps they can give you adviceon the least cost effective route to get the money you claim the flight school owes you.

Doubtful you will get anyone to pick up the trail afterit’s gone cold for 4 years.

You need to take them to small claims court. But as capt pointed out the statutes of limitations may have run out. No lawyers needed in small claims, but you will have to find out what your max claim is for Texas and spend time and money on serving the flight school and paying court fees if you lose. Good luck, sheriff won't be able to do anything for you without legal notice to do so, they can't take sides until legally told to.
Small claims is designed for these kind of cases, lawyers aren't cost affective, you still need the situation resolved. They usually are capped between 5 or so thousand depending on the state.

In Texas small claims actions (up to 10,000 dollars) are handled in JP court. You would have to file with the particular Justice who has jurisdiction over the part of Tarrant county where the flight school is located. There is a four year statue of limitations for fraud in Texas.

Thanx all. The school witheld my money from June 30 2008. It appears that i still have a window of just a little over 3months to file before the JP at Tarrant county.

Get in the pickup truck and head to Bass Pro/ Outdoor World. Buy a crossbow and arrows. Pick up some Busch Beer. Find the head of training...

at clark they have been warned, I wrote on pprune in the past and people told me I was not serious, that clark was a serious business, bla bla....

MPL direst to airbus, what a joke, of course they want your money and milk you dry. all schools do the same.we always say: pay after your flight, or never pay in advance what you can not lose.

but here, you are all a bunch of dreamers....with too much cash in hand that you shouldnt' have.
