A fantastic rare vid to watch here:

The Royal Aeronautical Society's Centenary Garden Party in 1966 - on film | Community | The Royal Aeronautical Society (http://media.aerosociety.com/aerospace-insight/2012/03/16/centenary-garden-party-film/6541/)

Vulcan, Spitfire, Red Arrows Gnats, and you can hear the crowd gasp when the Andover does a feathered engine flypast!

There's some interesting footage of a Avro 504K being flung around a bit too...

Shame some cheesy 60s aioport music was dubbed on top of it - but brilliant all the same!!

Cheesy? You're talking about Milt Jackson and the Modern Jazz Quartet here.

The moving pictures were nice too.

The 'gasp' was part of the music soundtrack I think.

I stand corrected! - Must work on my jazz appreciation skills.;)

But that said, I'd still prefer they left the original sounds in....

I have a DVD copy of an orginal colour cine film taken at the time by a Brooklands Museum volunteer at the RAeS Garden Party held on the 15th September, 1957 at Wisley Airfield. This is without sound, no MJQ music applied here although old technology brings back memories of my seeing about sixty popular light aircraft of the era which were parked on the airfield perimeter, including various foreign visitors from Ireland, France and Belgium. Display aircraft included the Hawker Tomtit, a Percival Prentice, Thruxton Jackaroo, Edgar Percival EP9, Piel Emeraude, Saab Safir and ending with a mock dog fight with a Huricane and Spitfire.

I wonder if there might be a similar film held at the RAeS archives somewhere of similar events held at Wisley in 1956, and 1966 as well as 1957 ?

Thanks - interesting to see there was a 'RAeS Helicopter Garden Party' in June 1957 as well...!
