Apologies if this is the wrong forum, but does anyone who is in the know understand how CASA's jurisdiction would work if LAN put the 787 on this route.

Obviously the 787 would be fine on the AKL-SYD sector, and, in theory, CASA would have no say on the SCL-AKL sector since it is between Chile and New Zealand... but, because LAN would sell tickets through from SCL to SYD if CASA decide to play silly buggers could they interfere on this route ? or would they just have to sit there and scowl?

I suspect that the B787 will come with some pre-approved EDTO threshold, as did the initial B777. It would not surprise me to learn that this was 180 minutes or more.

You are correct in that CASA do not get involved in the Ops Specs for a foreign carrier holding an Australian foreign AOC. The limitations imposed on a foreign AOC are largely limited to ensuring that the crew can speak and understand English.
