Is anybody, or does anyone know of, a licensed Transport Canada A320 TRE in the Middle East who can do a TC check ride for an initial type rating + IR? Thanks.

i guess you want to transfer your type rating on your TC licence. It is easy to do if you just provide to TC all the files of your type rating PC. BUT it will require you to hold the IATRA exam to put it on your licence if you don't hold an atpl.

Transferring is not an issue, but from what I've heard you will only get a rating that says valid for XX registered airplane (i.e. the registration of the country you fly in). One would have to actually sit a TC Skill test in order to get a full conversion to a TC license.

All you need to do is make sure you have the new blue license, and as the other guy said get them to add it to your ratings on your license.

Then when you go back to Canada just do a medical and OPC and your license will be current again. Anyone willing to hire you will need to do a OPC on you at a bare minimum so that will reactivate your IR and type rating.

Im not 100% sure about this but, but I think if you want to fly different country's airplanes, you will need a license in each country based on your CDN ATPL. Depending on the country, that shouldn't be a big deal.

Alright sounds good. I'm confused regarding whats required so that when I go back to CAN I can just step right back into the system. From what I hear the only thing required is a current medical, which in any case you would require when applying for a job.

But what about the IR, isn't there a regulation somewhere that states that after a few years you need to resit the INRAT? Or does flying over here in the ME keep that semi-current so that you only have to sit a check ride to renew it.

You have to resit the INRAT if your IR has lapsed for more than 2 years. Transferring a TR onto the license is not a big issue. The issue is going back to Canada and doing a ride every two years to renew the IR. This can be done in a fixed based sim as well. Or find an examiner to sit in during your recurrent and sign off on the TC paperwork to renew the IR.

You don't have to sit the Inrat every 2 years. The exams are good for 5 years. If you send your foreign IR ride in to TC, they will look at it and should extend your exams for another 5 years from the IR ride date. The IR ride still has to be done in Canada or by a CDN inspector every 2 years though.

Hi you do not have to to the exam again
Me once i let it go for 7 years. The only thing you need is a letter from your current
employer who prove that your doing all the normal recurrent in your airlines
Then you can pass an IR in a sim which is approved by TC
Did that last year in St Hubert
You need the inspector name in Montreal just PM me

Lindberg is correct. If you haven't been flying for more then 2 years then yes you would have to rewrite the exams. As long as you are current when you go to Canada, just take a copy of your last couple of OPC's and your certified logbook, then just do a medical and opc and you're back in business.
