Hi,

I have a Cl 604 Type Rating ( just finished) . Now I am looking for a job.
Any ideas who is looking for a F/O with Type Rating (1800 hours total but no jet time only 900 hours turboprop).

Freelance would also be O.K.

Thanks

How much did the rating cost you?

Here we go again. I for one will never hire you, not fulltime, nor as a freelancer. Why would I willingly participate in dilluting the T&C's of my industry. The last thing I want to do is give my principals any ideas. There are thankfully still plenty of guys and gals left like me in the industry that will protect our lifestyle. I know of several likeminded individuals in our little corner of this business.

IF you do sneak in through the backdoor somehow, I will just not fly with you, the principals will quickly get the hint.

You may well be the nicest guy in the world however most in our business will do anything we can in our power to keep this P2F cr@p out.

As if buying your own type rating wasn't bad enough, why do people keep self-funding ratings and then come on here asking who might be hiring? :ugh:
That's the part I really don't understand.

Well maybe he was promised a job that never came to fruition. instead of everybody bitching about paying for type ratings and bonding by companies or individuals which invariably involves a much reduced salary, why doesnt the industry adopt a half way house philosiphy. i.e you get offered said job based on interview merit. Pilot to pay type rating of say as an example 15000 sterling. Pilot recieves normal salary. After year 1 company pays said pilot 5000 back. Year 2 pays another 5000, and year 3 a final 5000 back. Not rocket science, and just a thought. Im only laying this philosiphy down for those pilots with limited flying experience and not for those that have shed loads of experience.

the principals will quickly hint that if you would ever had earned money as a pilot you would know that there are more improtant things than thinking the whole day how and why the second guy sits on your side- its also not pilots decision in most cases with whom you fly or not. you may be the nicest flight simmer in the world- so keep on simming.

generally i do not see any use of writing down the own frustrations and enviousness for a guy who asks something and does not get any useful information as a response, maybe daddy paid the rating, maybe he is willing in p2f - its not our business and not your job to be pure envy that he at least has a current rating.

@mustangbill : you did not stated if you look in europe, usa or elsewhere. in switzerland rega operates this stuff, in germany several GA companies- but they mostly look for hours on type. you may encounter problems with finding a job having just the rating . it would be an idea to talk to the trto where you made it- maybe , when they feel you are worth it, can direct you a little.

best regards

I understand the frustration but i know many who have bought type rating for business jets and then looked for a job.

What they do with their money is their business.

Sure its better to try and find a job first, then negotiate a rating, sure in a perfect world.

Owners ive flown with dont care, its just another saving for them, you just fly the machine. In fact i know a company who are managed like ryanair, how they manage to keep crews ill never know, but they keep crews coming to them, pilots willing to fly for free, yes free, for "experience"...

Bizjet's are no better than commercial aviation, so for work just keep trying all avenues.

Good luck

did mustang bloke say he'd paid for his rating? I may have missed that bit. I know quite a few people who have been put on ratings they have never used and then been made redundant or the company has folded.

Mustang thingy, ignore the doom mongers, just apply to everyone who operates a 604 and see what happens. Lots of jet people are quick to dismiss turboprop time but thats because they are morons - most turboprops are significantly more demanding if things go wrong than a jet and if nothing goes wrong they are both much easier than having a proper job so unless you are applying to idiots they will understand that you have put in some decent flying. If you paid for your rating yourself I would suggest that you have made a significant an very likely fruitless gamble but hey, its your cash. I have, coincidentally, got this amazing business opportunity for you if you have any left to "invest"

Tom

You and I both know that there are FOs at Hangar 8 that have self-funded ratings in the hope of a RHS opportunity. It's worked for some and not for others and to some extent it's even encouraged by H8.

Not fair to say it is fruitless then is it!!??

Who cares who is looking for a First Officer? YOU are the one looking for a job, right? So send your CV to every operator with a 604, simple as that.
