Hi

Wondered if one of you experts could confirm that a brass-cased aircraft compass, Type P11, ref 6A/726, serial 35881 8, would have been from a Spitfire or other single engined fighter of about 1944. Instrument has been unearthed by widow of a former Pruner. No certification so wonder if it has any great value.

The Spitfire had the P8 compass I believe.

Also have a look here (http://www.spitfirespares.com/SpitfireSpares.com/Pages/instruments.html) on page 1. They have a P11 - "Most commonly used in Hurricanes but also used in other WW2 RAF fighters" - for sale at £175. Also there is discussion here (http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?t=88059) which may be of use to you.
