Visited the new (and highly recommended) Cold War display at Cosford last year and was delighted to see the above aircraft preserved there. I flew in her whilst an air cadet when she was with 55. Could anyone please fill me in on what role/missions this aircraft performed during the Falklands campaign? And any other interesting anecdotes for this particular airframe?

According to Rowland White's excellent 'Vulcan 607', XH672 was aircraft 1 in Red section on Black Buck 1, Captain S/L Martin Todd, refuelling XL188 and returning to Ascension.

No doubt the mission profiles of the other Black Buck missions are documented somewhere?

The quote below is extracted from the out-of-print book 'Falklands - The Air War', first published in 1986 by the British Aviation Research Group. It was once a difficult book to get hold of, but there seem to be some second hand copies available now - mind which one you buy now, as the prices are somewhat variable!

XH672 K.2

On 29.3.82 with 57 Sqdn at Marham. Flown non-stop to Wideawake on 23.4.82, from where subsequent tanker missions included: the first two "Black BUck" Vulcan B.2 bombing raids overnight 30.4/1.5.82 and 3/4.5.82; contingency cover on 11/12/13.5.82 for the alert 809 Sqdn Sea Harrier FRS.1 aboard 'Atlantic Conveyor'; the deployment of two 1(F) Sqdn Harrier GR.3's from Ascension to 'Hermes' in the TEZ on 1.6.82 and the last two "Black Buck" Vulcan B.2 sorties on 3.6.82 and 12.6.82. Returned to Marham via Dakar on 15.6.82.
Having been on 55 Sqn myself, post the 1982 Falklands war, I of course flew XH672 several times. :ok:
