Just looking for some opinions and info about the flight training outfits in the Auckland area, as i am looking to do my training here. Any info regarding some of the flight schools in the area is greatly appreciated. Would especially like to hear from ex-students, as to if a job was offered after training, or if there are any operations that should be avoided, or considered.

Cheers,

Groove

You cant go wrong with Ardmore Flying School Check them out at www.ardmore.co.nz (http://www.ardmore.co.nz) , there is also flight2000, Pilot Academy of NZ and a few aeroclubs.
They all have something different to offer in terms of deals, aircraft types etc. There is also backpacker type accomodation avaliable at the aerodrome.
www.webwings.co.nz (http://www.webwings.co.nz) may have the websites for the other training organisations.
All the best. :)

Agreed. Plenty of ex students will agree with that - I do.

I got a much better deal at Flight 2000, couldn't recommend them enough!!

Anyone got the web site or contact details to hand for Flight2000??

Already enquired about several schools in NZ but I wanted to find one near Auckland where I've got family

Cheers

www.flight2000.co.nz (http://www.flight2000.co.nz) will get you there.
Would also vouch for there integrity.
Mind you I used to work there in GA days.
Whilst there it is well worth having a beer with the guys.

It's not exactly in the Auckland area but why not try the Bay of Plenty Flight Centre.

Good scene, friendly people and accomodation can be provided at a good price.

I have recently returned from NZ and faced the same Dilema. The most important thing to consider is weather, because NZ in summer can very quickly change to UK winter!. You have chosen Aukland, you will find better weather in the Northland, more predictable anyway. There are many schools on offer and most comercial training is done from Ardmore areodrome. I did my research and decided upon Ardmore flying school. They attract students from all over the world so if you plan to stay on site be prepeared for some cultural differences!. they have a fleet of new Cessna 172R's and some older tommahawk. I disagree with the comment about unfriendly enviroment, Whilst there I was very impressed with their friendliness and professionalism. The pound is very strong against the NZ dollar ( perhaps this is why they were so friendly!) so you should get plenty for your money.
You probably already have their website, Email [email protected] he is the CFI there and I found him very helpful. Also Auckland covers a large area, although Ardmore is in auckland it is infact in the middle of nowhere!
good luck

Yeah - very helpful folks at Ardmore.
But No. 15 is good for a 'wing partner' or a BBQ !
