The Jet Age Museum has now signed a lease agreement at Gloucestershire Airport to build a permanent home for their collection. Work should start in May.

I'm so old I remember visiting the Skyfame collection at Staverton last century.

Anything that improves the chances of preserving the past for future generations has to be applauded.

Silly question but has the Lottery Heritage Fund been approached?

Never visited Skyfame but I remember it being mentioned in Flying Review and Air Pictorial that dates me doesn't it? I too welcome anything which preserves our heritage; I almost 'got rid' of a display Sapphire engine to the Gloster museum people when I was CO of an ATC Squadron and the engine was 'surplus to requirements' but they were 'pipped at the post' by Parkhouse Aviation.
I also support Steam Railway enthusiasts; I've driven a GWR Pannier at the Swindon and Cricklade Railway Centre!

SGC the museum has made 3 unsuccessful bids to the Heritage Lottery Fund at a total cost of over £18k for various professional and consultants' reports. This is not to say that future applications will not be made, particularly for small grants etc. but, at this stage, the museum is entirely dependant on donations.

It's the AGM tomorrow at 1930 at the Flying Shack at Gloucestershire Airport, Staverton. All are welcome to attend. The museum really has gathered momentum over the last 12 months and raised more then £50k during that period. It has secured planning permission, been granted a 90-year lease (at a peppercorn rent, courtesy of the Airport authority) and is ready to build. Exciting times, entirely due to the efforts of an indefatigable group of enthusiasts.

The Museum's holding a joint event with the VTTS on Easter Monday. Vulcan cockpit open for tours, E28, Meteor and Javelin (and possibly the Hurricane) on display.
