Hey peeps,

My friend has been using the iPad as an EFB for a long time and things seems pretty neat in IFR with Jeppesen and everything. I was wondering if anyone has any idea as to how to do the following:

What I have:
PDF and GeoTIFF VFR Maps
iPad2
An external BT GPS Reciever

What I want:
To import the PDF and GeoTIFF into the iPad and give reference coordinates of the four corners of the map and some known points and a scale so that I can overlay the GPS position on the VFR chart. All of this offline!

Any ideas?

There are very few apps for IOS that can run user-supplied and user-georeferenced maps, especially if you want to run aviation maps which are almost always with Lambert Conformal Conical projection.

Approach charts are easier because they use rectangular projection, but you would need to calibrate them yourself, which would take a lot of work.

Your best bet is to wait for Oziexplorer to come out under IOS, which should be soon. That will open up a route to running a vast range of maps and map projections, on an Ipad.
