Hey all! Has anyone applied for the Global Assessment Centre in Shanghai? I've applied and still heard nothing and the deadline ends Feb 27. I've tried looking on these forums for GAC's but it's mostly talking about OD/ADs. Thanks in advance:)

Now that we are in a different thread i want to remember everyone with DOJ March 25th that we have a FB group, so we can keep in touch from now, its very useful!:

I got my GC, and DOJ is 8-APR
Does anybody knows if they count 10 days for dental as 10 working days or just 10 days?
Thanks.

hey y'all i'm clover. i just send off my online application to emirates yesterday so fingers crossed i get pass the initial screening. i think im pretty enough and perfect height but no service industry experience. however i can speak fluent mandarin, cantonese and english so i hope that will be my highlight. i read that they are keenly looking for cabin crew who speak both mandarin and cantonese so that's giving me bit of a confidence boost over my lack of experience.

there's an assessment day for london, uk at near the end of this month and another in early march. hope i can get to either one and make it through!!

anyone else applied recently waiting for the london assessment?

i have a question about what to wear for the interview (if i ever get one hehe). i know generally women wear skirt suits, but can women wear pant suits too? i recently bought a nice pant suit but considering i will most likely wear it for the interview, should i return the pants in favor of a skirt? emirates FAs can wear pants too so i hope i dont have to return my pants....

My status was "approval in progress" for two weeks. Now I can't login, it says "you will be contacted by your recruitment coordinator at the earliest"

What should I expect? What does this mean?

clover11
8th Feb 2012, 08:21
almaha - thanks tons for letting me know! i will go and exchange my pants for skirt asap today :)

ishty - judging from posts i read on the previous emirates thread, it sounds like you may be getting your GC soon

I tried to log in today and got the same thing. From what I gather, it means we will be getting a call fairly soon...not sure if it's a good call or bad. BUT...I have heard people say that they received rejection EMAILS, and acceptance CALLS.
Fingers crossed for the both of us!
Good luck!

Anyone else have any insight on this? what to expect?

Hello all:)
I had my final interview two weeks ago. My status has not changed on the EK portal, it is still 'applied'. Can anyone tell me if this is a sure sign that my application has been rejected after the FI or that means that they are still to review my file?
Please let me know. Thank you and good luck!

clover11
8th Feb 2012, 23:09
wow, congrats on all of you who got their GC!! :ok: and to those waiting, good luck!!

when i came to work on the photograph section of the online application, i was confused at how exactly i should look in the photographs. after i submit i read somewhere on here that it should have me with my hair tied back and skirt suit attire for women. now im bit weary about my photos cause i had my hair down (not long enough for bun) and i wore a pant suit...
since they didnt specify what exactly was expected of the photos other than head & shoulder shot and full length, my pants wearing hair down shouldn't really be a big problem right?

Azzuro
9th Feb 2012, 09:09
Just don't worry, I wore pants and my hair was down too and I am doing my medicals now :)
Everything will be fine, just bring better pictures (in skirt and hair up) at OD.
Good luck :)

Hello guys ,I know this question has been asked before but I want to check please, i passed my FI in jan 30, and yesterday my statut changed from "applied" to "Approval in progress" what does that mean and is it a good sign ?

ano79
9th Feb 2012, 23:49
Yes thats a very good sign. You should receive an email about tattoo's, send that away then assuming you don't have any tattoo's where you shouldn't, then from there you wait to see your account locked out and a message in red saying 'you will be contacted by your recruitment coordinator at the earliest'

Good luck and hope it works out :ok:

Hello everyone, this is my first post after using the 'search' function and didn't find any details. I am wondering if they are looking for males as well since some of you guys might have known that the appointed agency conducts the walk-ins in Asia only pre-screen the females. And am I correct to say this is the first time they are recruiting Vietnamese crew since DXB-SGN is about to commence soon? Do share any information if you guys have. Thank you so much.;)

Hey guys ... I've got two questions!! :)
My first question is about my online-account. I have applied for the open day in Berlin but ultimately I went to the one in Bremen. Now my question: My status changed to "under review" but for the wrong open day ... Apparently I made it to the Fi (on the 8th of Feb) and now I am waiting and Im worried about my status .... I send a few E-mails to the recruitment but i havent received an answer yet or anything that my pictures, Updated CV and so on arrived. Could you please help me or tell me if someone is/was in the same situation? I would really appreciate that ... thanks to ya in advance :O

i know that OD you don't need an invite, but you still need to register right?

i registered for the OD for london on 28th, but it's literally me sending my online application to them. the fact that i applied means i can just show up at OD at 9am that day? or do i have to wait for a confirmation email telling me i can do so? or is waiting for the confirmation letter only for AD days? (cause i applied to that too)

thanks tons!:O

You don't have to register for an Open Day. You can just show up.

If you wanna try to make it straight to the Assesment Day then yes you have to apply online and hope to get an invitation!

Good luck

Yes, this's the 1st time they recruit Vietnamese. I think the agency in SIN refers the female, but the agency in VN advertise both males n females, you can search "Solivaco" agent on Google VN, and if u could arrange your time, this's your chance.

Hello all! I just registered here :)

I applied on February 2. I've been checking every day, status is still "applied". I know it takes a while for them to review the application, I just hate waiting!

I'm not too optimistic though. First of all I'm a guy, and second Im only 5'6 :( Probably not what they're looking for, but I guess it doesnt hurt trying.

clover11
16th Feb 2012, 17:51
thank you KuB for clarifying! yes, fingers crossed :)

i remembered that emirates used to fly to SGN but than dropped the route. i was wondering why they dont fly there because i would really like to visit vietnam. good to know they are opening up this route again.

another route i hope they open is to taipei. i'm not sure about the economic relationship between taiwan and uae, but since there is ongoing relationship with china, i thought they would look into opening that route as well. if not for business it can be for pleasure too.

Hi everyone! I Got a very important question.
I am an ex Qatar Airways crew. I have been working for QR 1 year, then i resigned (did not get terminated!). One year passed since i resigned. I heard about 1 year bond betwen EK and QR so i decided to wait this time. But on last few OD for EK... few of my friends exQR crew got rejected on 1st level on recruitment process. Smth was wrong with them or EK just doesn't hire exQR crew any more?

Nibs, you can show up for the open day without receiving any notification from them, unless they specifically send you an email saying you don't qualify, in which case I would find out why and/or still show up and give it a shot! :ok:Are you applying for the OD in DC on Feb 26th? that's the one I'm going to! Don't worry about your height, as long as you can reach the limit you will be ok (most girls are much shorter and they make it)

I havent been to any, but I asked a few people who went to vancouver and emdonton and they said roughly 50-70. But who knows. As in Ottawa I imagine alot of people like you and I from Montreal are going to go to Ottawa because its so close.

clover11
18th Feb 2012, 17:53
wow, the vancouver/edmonton turn out isn't a lot eh. maybe because emirates don't fly there so people are less familiar with the airline in those cities? im canadian currently living in london, uk. im going to the london OD at the end of this month. if i get booted out i'm likely to try again in toronto or any of the eastern cities after 6 months.

if you guys go, let us know how the turn out was! :)

Hey everybody! After reading all 200+ pages of the previous thread and this one I finally registered! All your posts are so helpful and have given me a much clearer picture of the whole F/A procedure.:ok:

I have applied to 3 assessment days in South Africa(via Emirates website), about 3 weeks ago, but haven't yet received any reply.

I know that another company does the recruitment in SA, so I don't know whether I rather need to apply with them directly. Are there any South Africans who have been to an AD who could tell me? Also, why don't we have ANY open days here? (Though we are lucky to get atleast 2 AD every month!)

Hello there,
I am new to all this. I currently applied for Emirates and recieved an invite for the open day. I decided to attend it in San Francisco in March. My question is: On the email I received the date is March 23 but on the website stated the 24th of March. Is any one who is attending in San Francisco know the exact date for the OP?
I did try to contact the Hotel to receive an exact date and they said the 24th, but advised to contact Emirates to be sure. The thing is that I dont know where to go to reach HR or any one who could help?
Can anyone help me, Please?

Is anyone going to the OD in BNE on March 10th? I have applied online a week a go and my application is still in 'applied' mode. I have applied few times and got rejected. I went on two open days got rejected as well. The last one was in January. For those who did not get through they told us to apply within 6 months, however heard reports since its open day and did not go through the FI, and group acitvity, the wait for 6 months does not apply.

Aqqwa
23rd Feb 2012, 01:57

I got my FI last week end; and I don't have the casual pictures yet (yes, my computer is dead !).

Is that ok if I send them on saturday (6 days after FI), or it is too late ?

Thanks a lot, I worry ... !

Hi Seja. Do you know something about a weight limit? There are chubby girls at Ek? I'm a little bit worried about this...

givemewings
23rd Feb 2012, 13:24
Yes the weight limit is BMI in a healthy range for your height/body type. Sometimes if you're borderline they might ask for confirmation of this from a medical person. (This criteria also applies to pilots)

Depends on ur personality i think.

Just be urself, follow rules listen carefully what recruiters talks etc....

Just few informations about Qatar Airways....
I am also exQR cabin crew.
I informed my recruiter that I worked with QR 12moinths ago (FEB/2011) and is it OK with her that I apply.
She just asked me is it now 12 months between and I showed her document from QR so she saw there is 12 month in between.

What I can say is that I really like how they approach OD. Very professional way, no matter if someone worked or not before as a cabin crew etc...
Stage by stage - I was selected and now I am waiting for golden call or e-mail that I am not selected.

Seja
23rd Feb 2012, 16:00
Givemewings is right, your body just has to be in proportion. There are some chubby girls but some of them also are put on a diet and the company asked them to lose weight. in most country it is against the law to give a weight limit, otherwise they would do it for sure ;-)

2 days ago I applied online for an AD, which is next week on Wednesday. It was not to late to apply only now?
Yesterday I got a mail and they told me the recruitment crew will check my application. If I don't get any answer in 3 months I can apply again after 6 months... so that means I can't try any OD next month for example

i have got a question about post-ponding the DOJ. i read on another forums that you have 6 months to join EK starting from the day you signed your contract. is this true? when in the process do you sign the contract? after getting GC?
do you let the GC caller know immediately that you need to post-pond the DOJ if the date provided is too early?

thanks!! :O

Hi,

Just wondering how long some people have had to wait for final approval. I uploaded my documents 3 weeks ago and had to provide a couple more details, however I've seen people on here with their GC and DOJ after mine who have already had their FA, just seems odd and am getting nervous, although I shouldn't be as I'm perfectly healthy???

Hi !
I'm going to the OP in Brisbane next month and I would like to know if I had to register online before - I guess not, but I prefer to be sure -.
It's the first time I will apply for an airline so I'm a bit stressed. I'm quite young, I'm only turning 21 on the 14th, but I had to try anyway.

@EKboi (http://www.pprune.org/members/382556-ekboi) See you there.

Is there an english test ? Because it's quite obvious that I'm not a native english speaker and I may need to open some more books.

Hi everyone,
Good luck to all those going to OD/AD!
And to all waiting for replies!
I want to ask anyone that did all this before, I got my final approval and just wondering what do I do now?
Sit back and wait for my DOJ? The following steps (on portal) like travel arrangements is up to them.. feeling weird waiting..
My DOJ is 28/04/2012.

From what I heard the English test can be quite basic. (As you can tell I have few spelling errors myself...not a native English speaking person, from EU as well)

I bought this book called Interview Master Cabin Crew (the girl who wrote it actully got hired by EK after many faild attempts at other airlines and became an recruter) good book. Helped me a bit.

The example given in the book:

Listening:
* you will see a picture and you will hear four short statements. When you hear the statements, look at the picture and choose the statement that best describes what you see in the picture.
or
*you will hear a question of statement, followed by three responses. You are to choose the best response to each question or statement.

Reading:
Chose one word which best cmpletes the following sentence:

Because the equitment is very delicate, it must be handed with _____
(a) Caring (B) Careful (C) Core (D) Cafefully

---------------------------

So these are just examples....its very basic for what you can see.

Hope this helps :D

First of all a huge thank you to Mari and ThatRedHatgirl< your posts on the recruitment process at EK, has been a tremendous help, would not have made it to the FI without it. Today marks the 2 week anniversary of my FI and I am still "under review". In my FI group, already 10 people have gotten the GC. I am slowly losing my mind... I think I am at an disadvantage because I did not do the last group discussion. Myself and 4 other girls were mistakenly given the unsucccesful letters at round 1 and so we went home. At the next stage the recruiters realised this and called us all back, but the venue was an hours drive from my house, so I was not in time for the discussion. When I got back, they apologized for the mix-up and said they were going to put us through to the FI. I attended the FI, and I was able to answer all of their questions. Now I am starting to wonder if I am at a disadventage. Mari, has something like this happened before that you are aware of? I am stressing a bit, I went through to the FI for QR as well, but I would much rather join EK.

Aleria

The open days are held by Icrew recruitment consultants in SA, not by Emirates, there are too many applicants for the EK recruiters to sort through in the 5 days they are in SA. The open day I went to last month in CPT had 400 applicants, the SA agency whittled it down to 80 people for the AD and only about 20-something made it to the FI. I recommend you go through the SA recruiters, the are ex- EK cabin crew and very nice, just google them and you will be able to apply directly on their website. Hope this helps... Good Luck!

Hi Blobbba
Thank you! you too congratulations!
No I don't know who it is yet. I think maybe because my DOJ is far still.
On the portal the part (training inductions) in it there is supposed to be a link, right?
The bold (introduction to training officer) is supposed to the link, that's what I herd.

28th Feb 2012, 11:20
The book is called:

Interview Mastery Cabin Crew (Personal Training Program) by Carrie Loren

Amazon.com: Interview Mastery | Cabin Crew - Personal Training Program (9781908300003): Carrie Loren: Books

This is the link for Amazon....I got it from there as well.

Good book, great pointers, tuches a bit on NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) which my partner studys.

What the book helped me the most is to make my CV (resume) sound more mature and I knew what subjects and topics to focus on since this being my first cabin crew job application.

Hi everyone, I went to the Open Day this past weekend in DC and was eliminated in the first round because I could not pass the REACH TEST. It's not about how tall you are, but being able to reach 212 cm. I am 5 ft 2 inches and could not reach this height even on my tippy-toes (almost). So to anyone who is 5'2" or shorter, I suggest taking some yoga classes to stretch out your spine before you go to an OD. The recruiters were very nice but they were very strict about this point. There were many other applicants who went home besides me because they were too short. I was really disappointed and shocked because I had tried this reach test at home but had incorrectly measured 212 cm on my wall. So good luck to all you shorties like me!

PS. I was told by the recruiters that I couldn't reapply for another 6 months but have read in this forum that if you attend an OD you can come again as soon as you want, but if you go to an Assessment Day, you can't go to another for 6 months. I would like to try again as soon as possible but am unclear about what is permissible. Does anyone have any ideas about how soon you can apply if you failed the reach test (assuming you can gain some height haha)?

hi guys
i went to the OD in sydney in january, and was told because i had not been resigned from Etihad (where i used to be cabin crew) for 6 months they couldn't take me.
the recruiter did seem quite keen, and re-wrote my contact number in her own writing, and said she would call if by any chance that was no longer their policy... alas no call...

now i see there is another OD in sydney on the 24th of march, and I was thinking of going as I will have been resigned from Etihad for almost 7 months at that time...
is this possible or do I have to wait 6 months to attend another Emirates open day?

thanks for your help in advance!

Thanx a million. I will apply to the recruitment agency. I assumed that too many girls here apply. I live on the same premises where girls who are training to be F/As stay, and trust me, every 6 weeks I'm greeted by 20 new faces, and they don't stop coming!! Looks like it's the #1 job in the country...lol.

Another question: My application on my EK profile has now changed from "applied" to "application under review". Do you think that I might still get an invite even though I have only applied directly to emirates?

Hi Everyone,

I found lots of useful information from this forum and now is my turn to tell you guys my experiences.

I attended the AD in Viet Nam (yes, the first time ever EK recruit in Viet Nam) on Sunday 26th February, at the Movempick Hotel.
I arrived at 7.45am, I was directed to the Ball room down the hall. After that, the agency in my country gave us the number.

At appr. 9.10am the EK recruiters came into the room said good morning and introduced herself as Andrea. She thanked us for coming out so early on a Sunday and asked us to leave the room so that they could set up, at this point there were about 67 of us in the room.
Then, we look at a couple EK presentation DVD’s about life in Dubai, CC experiences, the A380 shower spa (very exciting stuff) the history of Emirates Airlines etc, etc. After every couple presentations we had a Q&A session, mostly about what we knew about the Airline.

After this we were invited to come up one at a time to do the reach test and to have a “little chat” with her. I was sick at that time and my voice was terrible, I said sorry for my voice today and she asked me “What happen with your voice” and I replied “I just came back from Ha Noi and the weather is very cold, here is very hot, and I got sick because of the change of weather” (hic, I was super nervous and my grammar isnt correct), then she corrected me “the changing of weather” hic.. hic..

The first elimination came, she gave everyone a paper say “Congratulations!” or “Unfortunately”, I got the 1st one. 67 to 22. Lucky me :)

The next one is English test, it was intermediate level with an essay “Your biggest mistake you have made and what you learn from it”. 9 ppl got elimination at this stage.

The next one is Group discussion and 2 ppl got elimination. One of them, I heard, she was over acting, try to impress the recruiter, so I am not surprised when she was out.

Then we stayed very late to do paper work, fill in the forms. Reached home at 7pm and stil have to do one more test.
My FI was on 28th Feb. It’s a bit relax if you have lots of customer experiences.

So, here are my data:

So I advise you call them. I used to call them once, sorry, I forgot the landline number (long time ago) but I search on Google, and found the hotline of EK, and call them in office hour, ask whether I could talk to Human Resource, and they transfer me to them. That's what I did.

You should do it if you don't want to wait anymore, and I believe they will answer your case. The recruiter told me the result is only kept in 4 months, so better you give a shot, so that you don't have to do the whole recruitment again later, after 4 months...

Wish you and me luck :)

If u worked for lets say - qatar airways and if u bring them all paper proofs that ur performance was in top standard, they dont call.
otherwise they call.
Especially if u worked for some "no name" airline so they call just to make some kind of assessment with reference...

Hi everyone here!

Celine,
Thanks for sharing your feedback and well done for passing the FI !!!
This is great that EK finally show up in Vietnam for their recruitment process!

Just a few questions for you if you don't mind?

Did you have to go through an agency before being able to attend that AD?
If so, how does it work?
Do you need to be a Viet' citizen?

Then, as for the reach test, are the 2m12 accurate? I mean, I read many times that theirs appears to be a bit higher than what people expected (for those who tried to reach that mark at home before coming to the AD). What do you think? (I am a shorty :p)! Were all the applicants like very tall...?

What did the group discussion consist of?

Cam on :)
Good Luck in the skies !

@FlyingCupcakeGirl:
Yeah.. We was going through the Sovilaco agency, Cong ty TNHH MTV Xuat khau lao dong, thuong mai va du lich Sovilaco (http://www.sovilaco.com). I heard on this 28 April, there will be another Assessment Day in Ha Noi, not sure the day (just gossip) you can check on their website or you can email Mr. Hai [email protected] for details.

No, you dont need to hold Vietnam citizen to attend the Assessment, as long as the agency approve for you to go through, it’s okie..

At the reach test, MUST 212cm... As long as you can reach 212, that’s fine. I read the previous threads saying you could try stretching Yoga and try to reach at home first. Someone told me the trick you put the clear plastic something under your feet before you put on your skin stocking. I don’t know, but in my AD, the recruiter asked us to take out the shoes and looked at our feet, and of course she make sure we can reach 212cm as well.

The group discussion is something about emergency landing on remote area, which you take and which you wont (there is a list 10 things for you to choose). But my advice is dont worry about it, as long as you could work well as a team, agree with others, not interrupt while someone is talking, smile... and you will be fine. I think when we work as a group, somehow idea will come, the recruiter pay attention your behavior, how you carry yourself. The more important is Final Interview, one to one. Ah, that’s time you should worry. Cause my AD had 11 ppl made to the FI but only 5 ppl can pass :(

Khong co chi :) Chuc ban may man :)

@hmmwondering
My Final Interview can consider a time I tell her about my working life story. At the moment I sat down, after finish paper work, she throw into me a bunch of questions. Start from what is the most difficult when you first moving to Brunei (I used to live in Brunei), and she developed questions from there, but mainly focus on your working experiences with passengers, with colleagues.. Like Have you ever be upset with your passenger? Do you often show your anger in front of passenger? How you control you anger? Are you in situation passengers put their anger on you with no reason, how you handle that? Something like that... And my advise is Be yourself. Honestly, I did enjoy myself in that interview, even I answered the question like this “No, I never loose my control in front of the passenger. In those cases, I go to the Galley and .... mm... sorry, poor my colleagues! I shout there like “what the hell, that passenger just drive me crazy!” ... haha still brushing :O whenever I remember that, it’s quite fun! but I shouldn't show too much my emotion in the interview. Thanks God, he loves me, I get through :P

But still waiting my Final Approval after my Medical Check Up are sent. Still keep your fingers crossed to me please :)

Céline, Cam on nhieu lam chi ;)
Yes, you're absolutely right: there will be another AD in Hanoi late April, and Sovilaco will be working alongside EK once again.
Aww how great - I thought their website was only displayed in Viet, hopefully for me cuz i suck at reading and writing Viet ;)

As for the reach test, I don't know if they will let shorties go through if we can only reach the mark with the middle finger or do they expect us to easily touch it with the hand palm :\
Have you seen lot of people being sent home cuz they failed at the reach test? All the candidates are like staring at you during that test ...? That would be so embarrassing! The reach-test is honnestly what would scare me the most.
Can I ask you how tall you are?
And yeah, better not to trick the recruiters with somehow wearing plastic inner soles LOL !

So you've been flying previously with another airline, is it?

Don't worry about the medicals, I'm sure you'll be okay chi!

Good Luck Aussie EKBoi ! Let us know how you'll go ;)

Flyguy87, I think applications for CC positions are mainly processed online. You'll be offered to attend an AD if your online CV is selected or can attend any OD when they come near your place. All the scheduled open days are listed on their website!

And the references part . I have reference letter from my previous employee where i worked at. Should i need to have reference from someone related to aviation sector ?? I dont know anyone from there :( because i've heard references play a vital part in selection procedure kz we get preference for that ??

Don't worry you can always attend an OD another time. You can register anytime for another OD.

@Flyguy87, I've never heard about introducing any cover letter at any stage of the process?!
As for the official photos, it's kind of difficult to get the info. I read once that you need to keep your feet parallel to each other and leave a slight space in between your legs, if that does make sense lol! BUT that's what I read on another thread so I insist on the fact that I can't confirm the info. Does anyone know here...? That would be helpful ;)
No need to get previous aviation references, as far as I know :)

Aww too bad @EKboi, were there a lot of people out there?
And was the reach test made on that day you went or not?
I'm not sure I get it: how far did you go last time? You went through to the FI, right, then got the rejection mail? But in that case, isn't it one whole year that you need to wait before being able to re attend an OD with EK?

EKboi
10th Mar 2012, 07:24
In January this year I didn't apply on line just went in and yes they did reach test and hand in my resume. Then I got a rejection letter.

I applied again for today march 10 and I got an invite. The same thing, did reach test, had to read about the uniform policy.

When I sat down she asked me few times if I'm sure that I came this January and when I said yes she said I need to wait 6 months in between .

My reply was " I didn't know, if that was just for open day or just Assesment day. I only got this far as well last time, therefore I want to know the proper rules"

She told me that I still need to wait 6 months. She didn't register me today because she told me "you need to come back in June". If she would register me now, the I would have to wait 6 months from today.

So that's my story so far lol.

FlyingCupcakeGirl
10th Mar 2012, 07:35
@EKboi:
Oh well I thought you were allowed to re attend any OD asap as far as you haven't been further than the handling resume stage... Weird. If you did pass the OD but failed at the AD, then you would need to wait 6 months (and 1 year if you do not pass the FI), from what I know.....
How many people were there, approximately?
Thanks

I am also asking myself the same question ellenjesh is there an AD or OD coming up in Nairobi that we don't know of. Ellenjesh time varies on when they call someone up for a preliminary selection but according to what I have been reading on this forum and based on my friends from EK, It is best you apply when they post that they are coming to Nairobi on their official website which am guessing might be around May-Aug(just a guess)

Yes, am also wondering because that's always the trend ie they have to post it on their site. Unless it's a walk in and that only happens in Dubai not Kenya. I thought they might recruit in April but.....let's hope for June.

12th Mar 2012, 00:41
EKBoi that is a classic example of why you should wait the 6 months... slightly embarrassing. If there is only a small number of applicants (e.g 25) then it automatically becomes an AD as it would be pointless to hold an OD for so few. They should have communicated this. Good luck in June.

Could someone clarify this for me please:
If you go to an Open day with 130 applicants-so its just an open day, and dont get the phone call to come back the next day to the assesment and all you did was the reach test and resume drop do you need to wait the 6mths?
I didnt recieve anything I was rejected at all

Lauryl
12th Mar 2012, 16:21
That's exact. You have to wait 6 months to go to another Open or Assessment day even if you didn't receive a rejection letter.

A friend of mine who didn't pass the OD, and didn't receive a rejection letter went to another OD the following month and she was asked if she attended an od for the last 6 months she said yes and the lady asked her not to come back before 6 months.

Hi Guys

I went to the 10th March Brisbane OD and I made it to the final interview (last FI for me was back in 2009). Was wondering if anyone here made it to the FI in Brisbane as well?

I know a lot of you guys are very curious about the day. So here's a short snippet of what actually happened:

About 80 people turned up to the OD and the recruiters were doing their normal routine; introducing themselves, talked about cabin crew lifestyle and about the airline and the company. After that they asked us to go to the next room one by one where they will be doing their short interview (about half a minute). After they have gone through 80 people they gave us a slip which determines if you are successful or not. Fortunately I was one of the lucky ones who made it through.

Secondly they got us into groups and asked us to work as a team. At this point it is where you should shine and work as a team player and not be dominating. They have 2 rounds of group activities, I was lucky enough to make it through to the final stage. Just on a side note, the people who talked a lot, and wanted their voice heard were the ones who didn't make it through to the final stage. I know a lot of people here are very nervous about this particular stage but in fact it is one of the easiest. All you have to do is show that you are listening, positive body language and say a few things like "Yes I agree" or "That is great idea". If the dominating person isn't letting you talk, then perhaps you could say "Sorry to interrupt, but I just want to say...". After that, let them talk as much as they want.

We were 80 people, to 21 in the group stage then cut down to the final 14. The 3 other friends who I made friends with immediately in the beginning all made it through so it was very special for the 4 of us. I just had my final interview yesterday and the recruiter asked me various questions relating to my customer service experience.

And now... the waiting game begins!

God bless and stay positive to the ones who are waiting!

I did my FI elsewhere. But in malaysia there's languages requirement. you either need to know, Malay, mandarin, cantonese,or vietname. then u can apply.

Just attended the OD, AD, and the FI in New York.

For people who have gotten to or passed ther FI stage, did any of you not have your highschool diploma or college transcripts with you? Where did you send them? I was told I may not need to find my high school diploma if I have college transcripts, but the transcripts don't show much information since I only recently started school again. Please let me know.

And when it says 2 casual photos, would they like 2 different casual photos, since for the passport photos they only cared if you had 6 of the same type.

Thanks for your help!

Hiya to everyone!
while completing the joiner's form on the portal i got to the dependants part.
there is a category 'others', where you have the option to put a friend, cousin, niece, aunt, uncle....
Is this due to preselecting persons so they could get discount on tickets later on or i got it all wrong?!

i ve searched forums, talked to some people, and every one says different or isn't sure :D
is there someone who knows it for sure?!
I would be very thankful !

p.s. congratulations to those who received rhe call, and patience to those still waiting....

(heh that reminds me of the saying : ' Dear Lord, give me patience... and give it to me right now' :})

Salut :D

Hi mich89! Just yesterday I saw an ad about the OD in SF, and I really want to attend. Today I registered and am starting the online application. I'm totally new to all this-- I've never worked with an airline, never interviewed to be a flight attendant, nothing! This whole process sounds pretty intense, and I think my chances are slim...
I have a stupid, but important question before I continue the application: Do we actually need to be fluent in Arabic? Do you know if they're going to give us an Arabic language exam?

Thanks for any info!

Hello and welcome.
I am new to this as well. I have never worked for an airline before either. I am nervous about attending the OD, but my trust is in God. All will be great. I got introduced to apply for Emirates thru a dear friend. I am glad your applying and dont be nervous we all have a great chance at this. I applied on the Emirates website like on a Monday and I received an invite that Saturday. It was so quick. so hurry and submit that appllication so you can receive an invite and maybe we can attend the OD the same day. :)

About having to know Arabic, I honestly have no clue. I recall reading on the job description that they require english and if you know another language its great. but i believe english is only required.

I wish you the best of luck and keep me posted if you recieve an invite. If all fails you can still make it to the last OD I believe in Seattle. So hurry and get an invite. Best of luck again. Hope i was able to help answer some of your quesitons.:ok:

17th Mar 2012, 19:19
Hello Faaris,

I went to the OD in Paris which was as expected crowded!
I think we were about 300 candidates coming from the US, Poland, Korea, Uk and for the most France.
We had two female recruiters, a blonde from the Uk and an Australian I think her name was Ashley.
So they introduced the company and the job, showed us some videos and as we were obviously too numerous to start the Assessment the same day they suggested to meet them one by one and hand our resume and pictures for the screening.
The last Emirates OD i went to was only a cv drop off (1 minute with the candidate) today it was a screening. Everybody did the reach test and every candidates stayed between 3 to 5 minutes answering questions so it was quite long.
I expected it to be very fast but it lasted a major part of the day, maybe til 4 or 5pm.
My screening was with Ashley and it lasted less than 3 minutes. I'm so disappointed. In comparison with the blonde one she looked pretty severe and cold and the only question she asked me was "Why did you come back for another OD?", I tried my best to answer but I wished she had asked something else ..
I will try another OD in 6 months but if I fail at the same stage again for the third time I will probably give up, maybe I'm not what they're looking for...:(

Probably over 200 people today at the Toronto Open House.

Hi everybody!

I attented the londonner OD 2 weeks ago, then passed my final interview last week.
during the selection process, the lady from the recruitment asked us to create a profil on emiratesgroupcareers.com, things that I did but I didn't know for the complete online application.
I passed my FI a week ago and I have just realised that I had to complete an online application form!!!
I made everything ready now, but a week after my interview...
Don't you think that it will affect my chance to get a job with Emirates, because I didn't follow the procedures correctly?
I am so worried.
Thank you very much for your help:uhoh:

I must admit that there were a lot of people at this OD. I was expected a few less :ugh:

Regarding "I'm not what their looking for.." ... don't make me come there and slap you  kidding...

No seriously , I've failed 2 times already but I will never give up the dream. As long as I will keep breathing (and I don't reached 34 years) I will apply for Emirates and try to succeed. You should do also...

Like a wise man said once... Failing is not a result , is an attitude ! ;)

Hello
I am looking for as much info as I can, about working for Emirates, as things in my country are getting worst every day....and also because I find it applying.
but I have read a lot of people criticizing the company and the working conditions (not able to get sick, treating you like an slave...)... and that is pulling me back...
anyone can help? or indicate me where to ask about how is working in Emirates as cabin crew?

By the way, i am 29 and my work experience is 5 years in Banking...may that be a handicap?

Aww i'm sorry i am not able to tell you about the background colour for your pics. When I googled it, I found a guy posing with indeed a sky blue one, but then I can't confirm you if this is what EK's looking for.

@ Lauryl
Have you been told by the recruiter not to attend any other OD within six months time or is it your personnal choice to do so? Cuz it seems to me that you can attend as many ODs as you wish with no time restriction?!
If they do the screening thing during the OD then maybe you have to wait the six months? But if it's only a CV drop off then you can re attend an OD whenever you want ? It's pretty confusing huh !

Hi Lilou60130,

congratulations for getting through your F1. I dont know if this helps, but my daughter got thru her final interview and didnt realise she had to fill in the on line application as well. She did eventally apply on-line and by Head Office seemed to be able to match up her on line application to all her paperwork that she gave them at her final interview stage. It took her a couple of weeks to get an acknowledmment on the site, she thought that she hadnt got the job, then her online application said something like "approval in progress" for a coiple of weeks, then she was locked out and it said " recruitement will contact you" this took 6/8 weeks, very nerve racking for her and us. she is now in Dubai, finished her training and working on A380. Try not to stress to much, Im sure you will be ok. xxx

Thank you Faaris! :O
I admire your positive attitude compared to mine, I am a pessimistic person as you can notice! But not having a feedback is pretty upseting. I have previous cabin crew experience and always used customer service in all my jobs so I thought all these assets would be advantages to at least pass the first stage but I failed twice at the same stage! It is so frustrating! However you're right, I won't give up, one day or so we will make the cut! ^^

FlyingCupCakeGirl
Actually that's what I thought too but even after an OD the 6 months waiting are compulsory! I went to Paris OD last July and tried to attend Toulouse OD 2 months later but when I told the lady that I already attended a OD 2 months earlier she sent me home telling me that I had to wait for 6 months. I think if I had not mentionned that she wouldn't have known I attented an OD before because they probably toss the unsucessful candidates CVs....
I'm gonna try to apply for an AD in London next month. There's no way they can check every single candidates last OD! We're too numerous and as I already said they probably don't keep all the CV's, do they? The worst think that could happen is that the Australian lady be there and recognize me..:bored:

@ Lauryl
That's the spirit :D

Working for Emirates is a dream come true for everyone :)

Imagine a single Forum of 10 Threads of 110 Pages....over 1100 pages about Emirates...just read the forum and you will find all the necessary information here believe me :ok:

Its easier for you to learn all there is to know from this forum because you will soon discover an amazing story behind every "ppruner" who received the GC

p.s. : OD = open door (an interview in which you can meet the Emirates recruiter without a former selection - attend with your CV and photo)
AD = assessment day (an interview you can attend to ONLY after you have been selected - by Emirates directly or by one of their appointed conjunction agency)
FI = final interview (an interview in which you talk one on one with the recruiter - you can get here after successfully pass the OD or/and AD)
GC = the most important phone call of your life ... the Golden Call in which you are congratulated for successfully joining Emirates

For the full lenght pic: white background.

For a male, legs a bit spread, arms loose next to your body (hands visible) and a smile showing your teeth.

Not sure for a female and I dont have the papers next to me.

:ugh::ugh::ugh:

I had my FI 15/02 (6th week will start in 3 days) and my online status is still "Applied" and most of the people are in "Approval in progress", some of them already received GC....

And I'm still in "Applied"...

Is that enough strong reason for panic attack?

Hi Guys,

I really have no idea where to post this but since I am an Emirates Wannabe, I figured I should start here!

I went for an Assessment Day back in 2006, I was only 21 and I didnt get asked back :( But I am considering applying again, the only thing that puts me off applying, is that I have a few tattoos. One on my foot, wrist, 2 on my lower neck and an inner finger tattoo on my ring finger (all very small tattoos!) All of them are pretty easy to cover up except the one on my inner finger. I think this may be a big issue and I would not know how to cover this discretely. Do you think there is any point in applying?

Thanks x

my status changed to AIP a couple of days after my FI, then 5-6 weeks later I got the infamous rejection mail.

I know people whos status read AIP for 7-8 weeks and their got their GC after all, so dont loose hope.

I know the feeling, I was sick and tired of waiting. but it is way better waiting then getting the reject mail believe me.

Hi Keepithigh,

im good. Thank you. Is it an OD/AD YOUR attending TO or a cv submission?I know what you mean. Well i aint sure about any bengali test that you ought to give. Once you are selected after your initial cv submission/OD they have a group discussion a written test in english along with an essay to check your language skills and your arm reach test.

Since you are a bengali i belive thats an annexed preference to your languages your know to.i would suggest you to check with any collegues that you know who have been there before.

Good luck
