Hi,

Got a minor sinus problem (small polyps). My Doc wants to treat me with steroids for 7 days (Prednosolon 10 mg). Anyone knows if this is allowed on a Class 1 medical ?

Try calling or emailing a CAA Aeromedical Advisor. They will know.

Certainly hope not

You may go high as a kite

But it is temporary so you will revert to 'normal'

Just a thought - before you use cortisone to clear your nose, I suggest you try the natural "Pseudoephedrine" (not Ephedrine!). Works great for me in terms of clearing my nose and mitigating some slightly asthmatic symptoms. Just be VERY careful with the dosage, especially if you have high blood pressure, heart conditions etc. This stuff is also found in many anti-cold syrups. However I can't vouch that it's permitted in commercial aviation. Also in some countries this stuff is available OTC in the pharmacy (e.g. Germany) and in others considered a narcotic (e.g. UAE) with all consequences involved.

Hope you get well soon.

No ephedrine won't do diddly for polyps

Steroids will shrink them and may avoid surgery but have side effects

As per JAR-FCL-3, use of oral systemic steroids is not allowed. You should consult with your AME as this is only temporary but they have to know.
