Transafrik-like jobs; still out there?

Wondering if anybody could clue me in on what the current practices are for landing a job at an outfit like Transafrik (at least what it was like 5-10 years ago). I've always heard that it's best to go there and get hired on the spot (much like I did when I flew in Alaska for a few years). Interested in right seat at the moment (don't have the PIC large jet time for left), but prefer a company that doesn't "seat lock" you.

And, when I say "like" Transafrik I'm also interested in places like Safair, Trans Air Congo, etc (ie. do my 3 months on, get paid, get my month off). Very hard to track down any current information on the current status of any of these places.

Any info appreciated.

Sorry if I sound a bit cheeky when I say this... but that would have been "current" just about 4 years ago. I'm looking for information from, say, the last 6 months or so.

ye true but what about their website? i think i've read somewhere that they got a lot a of x Filipino af pilots flying for them now. i know the chief pilot is

I talked to a friend who used to work for TA and he gave me some contacts, sent some emails out, waiting on replies. I'm trying to avoid hitchiking my way to Luanda or the UAE and knocking on some doors, if at all possible. Reason is that, as far as I can tell, they maintain about 5 different offices, at which I'm unable to get a phone call answered, so would not be pleasant to run halfway around the planet and end up at a dead end.

I'm bored at my current job, they pay well, there are no SOPs, and I've spent nearly my entire career flying in the bush (or some other remote 3rd world country) suites my lifestyle and background.
