Actually TBM Pilots always did run the major airlines. They have proven track records of managing airlines from inception, to growth, to profitability.
These were the glory days of aviation, when the rosters were decent, the aircraft licked and picked and no expense spared on quality and maintenance.
It's only taken the MBAs the last two decades to destroy them and gut them to pieces while awarding themselves huge salaries and bonuses in the process.
