Can de icing fluid be spayed on the blades ? Are there certain types that have to be used ? On composite blades ?

I would have thought a thread may have been started on this subject but search didn't bring anything up.

Will depend on what they are made of. We can't use anything on our 135.

I work away from airports and we use alcohol pured in a bigger hand pump on our 500's. On airports you can ask for de-icing. I don't know abt carbon/composit blades. But w like to try d new VHA composit MR blades being tested.;)

The 135 AMM has a procedure for de-icing the MRB's. The fluid is listed as:

De-icing /anti-icing fluid type I, S-742 (NATO),Typ I fluid per SAE AMS 1424 or ISO 11075 (For cold conditions)
De-icing / anti-icing fluid type II, Typ II Flüssigkeiten gemäß SAE AMS 1428 oder ISO 11078 ECD CODE 1340363 CMS NR017700002 6850-99-151-1428, SPAC AD 104/N, Kilfrost-ABC3 Kilfrost LTD. Haltwhistle Northumberland (Very F**king cold conditions)
I suggest if you've been told you can't apply de-icing fluid to your MRB's, you go back to your service provider and ask them to read the AMM (chapters 62-11-00 and 20-00-00).
