Worst ATC (and OSL comes in at #1)

Here's my Top 5 list of the WORST ATC around the world:

#1 OSL. .#2 KUL. .#3 GOT. .#4 NAS. .#5 DPS

Feel free to add some, although I think OSL is pretty safe as #1.

If you live in Florida and you fly Brasilia and Beech 1900, how can you make a statement about the worst ATC's in the world ?

Anyway, my top worst ATC is KGD.

Not only does it sound like they're sitting inside an empty water tank with a p!ss poor hand held radio, they can barely speak english, and their phraseology, general situation awareness and their radar vectoring suck.

GOT and OSL are not at all my favourites, but they have quite a bit to catch up with if they're going to make it to the "top", where KGD is! :)

Well, he has changed his profile completely.

Anyway, anyone could say that. And why should an American come into a Scandinavian forum and start of with bad ATC's ? Why doesn't he mention ATC's where you can't even understand what is said (unless you speak the local language?)

These two posts above are his first posts (under this alias, anyway).

Nick, didn't see your post as we posted just about at the same time. I looked at his profile and it said E-120 and B1900 (now it has been changed to A-330, tomorrow space shuttle ?) so I just thought how he got to Oslo and Gothenburg in these not so long range aircraft.

Ahh yes Nick, the old bucket on the head and carbon mike kit. Very popular in the old eastern block.

I doubt that Chickhauler is an american. More likely he flies a blue and white airplane, where the colors and name are to change soon. <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

I guess it depends on what type of flying you do, i.e longhaul or shorthaul but certainly there are much, much worse places than mentioned above. OSL and GOT for instance are fantastic compared to some other, less fortunate areas of the world.

Lets talk about Phnom Phen, Damascus, most places in Africa and South America. In these types of places where there are often no radar or ILS and controllers are barely speaking english and often surrounded by mountains.... Places like GOT, OSL and even JFK are cake walks!!
