Hi CT!

I have only gone through 2 checks, but from my experience, they are not looking for what is wrong with you, but if you are healthy enough to be a commercial pilot. My JAR medical is more stressful then the one here. I would not say, they don't check anything, but they don't go too deeply into unnecessary stuff. I am a bit too big to be called normal, but as long as you are fit, they say "Captain, you are too big, lose weight" :-) My last medical started at 0730, I was on my way home at 0815, and they checked everything like they do it home. As you can see, the medical is not part of the selection, you do it during your initial training. That says a lot about it.

medical checks are a bit extensive when you do it in Hanoi, than Ho Chi Minh city, but I should say, it's pretty much like doing your annual physical exam on you local CAA/FAA/JAA requirement. The only thing that requires a bit of time is the internal medicine (this is in Hanoi), due to the long cue, and number of equipment available. All the rest, like x-ray, urine/blood test(lab), ecg/eeg, neuro(interview only-no written exams) is pretty much a walk in the park...or should i say a walk in the hospital.... No worries when you think you're pretty much healthy and not hiding any medical issues..:ok:

A friend of mine was diagnosed with hemorrhoids.
We had a bit of a laugh when we read in his papers
"Deceased Anus"
