Hello

could someone please explain what is a fair weather strip and how would it affect operations at an airport ?

The below NOTAM has been issued for OPNH which we use as an alternate for OPKC/Karachi however some crews lately think that makes the airport not qualified as an alternate

I've googled it but without any results

OPKC-A0900/11
A) OPNH NAWABSHAH
B) 2011 DEC 14 04:30 C) 2011 DEC 31 23:59 EST
E) FAIR WEATHER STRIP (BOTH SIDES) U/S DUE HEAVY RAIN.

Thanks in advance

Best Regards

Pakistan ANO section (http://www.caapakistan.com.pk/downloads/ANO-004-DRAS-1.0.pdf)

Page 2, para D3.7

It refers to the cleared areas either side of the main runway which are ordinarily load bearing and can, in certain cases, be used as a landing/take off surface. If it's u/s stay on the tarmac!

Sorry, but I also did't notice why anyone should weep. Perfectly reasonable question, unless asked to a know it all.
