New ( DRAFT ) rules by the DGCA for aircraft endorsements

The DGCA has published new rules that pertain to endorsement of aircraft on one's Indian DGCA license .
It has also included sample requirements for aircraft such as A320 , B737 , ATR 72 .

Also included is the draft requirements for endorsement of non jet aircraft with AUW below 5700 KG . Looks like the new rules will be applied to those who convert their licenses .

A few highlights from the draft

1. Minimum of 25 hours of multi engine required along with rating endorsed on license prior to Airbus A320 type rating
However it does not mention whether SIM time can be counted towards this purpose .


2. Section 3.11 : Licence shall be issued only on the type of aircraft registered in India and having a valid Certificate of Airworthiness
One of the primary reasons the DGCA started rejecting the duchess was using this clause . however they still continue to approve the duchess and other such aircraft . Once this CAR comes into force they DGCA will never again approve the Duchess unless they renew its CoA

3. Section 3.3 : The trainee pilot should have passed all requisite written examinations including Technical Examination on type before commencement of the flying training and that must be valid during entire training and checks.

Appendix E No 1: The trainee pilot shall undergo a Ground subject course of not less than 20 (Twenty) hours covering all aspects pertaining to Aircraft, Engine, Systems as well as it safe operations/emergencies procedures. At the end of the Ground Course, there must be a written Examination, the institute, if considered necessary, may impart additional Ground Training to achieve the required Technical standards. Pass percentage of the same should not be less than 70%
and copy of result sheet in original shall be submitted to Directorate of Training & Licensing. This course may not be undertaken in case your have passed the DGCA Technical Examination on type

The DGCA will use this clause to ask for technical exam result even to those who will convert their license . However the exam result conducted by your flying school will suffice .
Moreover you are supposed to pass this exam before you start training on the aircraft .
