With the UK's shooting season ending 31 Jan, we are in the thick of passengers travelling with sporting weapons on private jets.

Although the regulations are clear; the pax, Operations and FBOs never seem to be prepared. This often results in unnecessary confusion and delays.

What would your top 10 tips be, to a private jet passenger wanting to fly with guns?

Inform the FBO well in advance if possible about pax departing with guns.
This enables them to get in touch with security/police in advance and have them come over (if not already on site) to inspect the rifles and ammo.

I was going to recommend a good, old-fashioned M61, but I see now that's not the kind of tip you were looking for....

When you inform the FBO it would be good to have the serial numbers of the guns and the owners licence details so that they can inform plod.

If in doubt, contact the local plod yourself as well.

Also, don't forget to inform the FBO that they are landing at too. Have seen that done before and it confuses them.

Don't bring any guns, even long guns, into Mexico. This would be very bad.

Unless Eric Holder is your friend, then bring them in by the 100s.
