Hi
Anybody knows how to make the CBT work on windows 7? I tried the compatibility tab, in the properties menu and select win95 but doesn't work. Also tried DOSBOX and a win95 emuler.
Any other ideas?

Thank you!!!!

What are the developer's published system requirements ? Do they mention Windows 7 on it ?

Have you made sure you've got the correct version of any pre-requisites installed ? (e.g. .NET etc.)

Dear Enrico737,

Before jumping down someone's throat you might like to understand the nature of supporting something such as 10yr old software under a modern OS like Win7.

Firstly, the OP hasn't specified what OS the original software was designed to run under, and in order to aid the OP that is a pretty significant detail to omit, as different OSs provided the underlying software support framework in different ways, and there are specific tricks to each.

Secondly, the nudge about .Net is because some people forget things like this and sometimes the software writers of low-volume stuff like this don't necessarily provide the customer with a helping hand, and YES it is important both to have settings for win95 (or whatever) AND to have any pre-requisites installed.

Finally, the range of knowledge on a forum like this means that a first message has to encompass all abilities such that a rapport can be built up between helper and helpee.

So, wind your neck in, THINK about what you're saying to other people on an Internet forum, and understand that nobody here gets paid for any of this advice and assistance.

For Home Premium and below, XP Mode isn't available. Virtual PC will run on Home Premium and above, but XP mode needs Professional and up. He'll need a legit XP CD for Home Premium.

"For Home Premium and below, XP Mode isn't available"

I've not tried it myself, but I've read reports that despite the eligibility restriction it will actually install and run on Home Premium
Anyone know for sure??

To cut a bazillion-step story short, yes you can claim to have Professional, download and install, but it won't run. You reboot and change the owner and some permissions, then run the VM (the XP mode link won't work). Finally, you create a new machine via the "use existing machine" option, navigate to mumblemumble folder. Then it will run and you can create a new shortcut. However, it will see itself as an unlicensed copy and ask for activation after a while. There are ways around that, of course.

It's easier to slap an XP disc in :-)

I'm working from memory, and I wouldn't feel like posting all the steps here even if I could remember them in detail.

Installed Virtual PC and XP mode for Windows7 64bit on Ultimate64 and CBT runs smoothly. Just a little echo on last word of audio comment.
I hope this information may help also others.
Link is the one supplied by Milo (thanks again!!!)
Sorry but I cannot test it on lower profile versions of Windows7 (Home edition etc.)
