So, according to the CEO of Perth International Airport the runways are underutilised 90% of the time. That must be comfort to those being delayed on departure and arrival!

That's outrageous !!

How long is a take-off roll ??

Let's say 30 seconds (average, the actual "rolling" time)

So from "Clear to take-off" until the next aircraft is "cleared" allow a MINIMUM of 90 seconds ?

What a total waste of time, the aircraft should be taking off IMMEDIATELY behind each other, say 5 seconds separation, that would be a lot more efficient.

Of course, landing aircraft would be a problem mixing with the aircraft taking off........

The obvious solution then is to have 60 minutes of "take-off-time", launching every five seconds, then you'd have to waste (say) 60 seconds to clear the strip, then have all your aircraft landing......Again every 5 seconds, none of this separation / wake turbulence cr@p !!

"B738 reduce speed to 60 knots, Cessna 150 in front of you........"

Or maybe...."Cessna 150..Increase speed to 150 knots, B738 behind you !"

Yeah, That'll increase the utilisation no end !!

Sounds like the new CEO has been living in a time warp or hiding in a sheltered workshp, not ex CASA is he?

Now considering the poor utilization of runways in Perrh and the fact that they sit dormant 90% of the time perhaps they can be used for vehicle traffic also, Perth airport could cut a deal with DTMR and feed some of the ever increasing road traffic down the runways also, and as the Air Services big kahuna would suggest 'if the mining companies would roster their staff differently then this too would help'.
So I see some great opportunities for the use of those quiet runways. Anyway, it's been a long shift, time to head home for some shut-eye....

Is the CEO in "Cloud Cuckoo Land"?

I remember the King of Tonga would regularly close the runway so he could ride his bike along the someplace smooth and flat.

Maybe Perth Airport could start a cycling club?

Why continue a relevant thread when you can just start a new one on an old topic.
Seems a good place for this
