I hear on the grapevine that all AEU Cabin Crew have been, or are being let go?

What is happening over there?

Good luck to all concerned!!

Well according to this article, Iceland Express plan to use its own aircraft next year instead of leasing any from Astraeus. As this is Astraeus' main customer, perhaps they are just reducing the fleet size?

Sad news if true.

sam - it must be a bit more than the Iceland Express contract since that used every few - if any - Astraeus c/crew.

According to a friend who is crew for AEU, they have given everyone notice, all cabin crew and SEP instructors, including cabin crew management.

All are now looking for alternative employment.

Gentlemen,

I amended the title of this thread, as the original title was potentially quite damaging.
The Cabin Crew redundancies centre around the fact that most Astraeus work is ACMI , and involves Cabin Crew from the host airlines. In line with this, a cabin crew redundancy program has been undertaken.

It is tragic that we are saying goodbye to many friends....many of whom I recruited. But our business has fundamentally changed over the years.

Current plan is for three 757s to commence Damp lease arrangements in the Far East, and one 737 on lease out as well. Two other aircraft will continue to work for Iceland Express for the winter.

The thread title was changed to reflect the truth. Inaccurate thread titles can be damaging to a company and misleading to people not in the know. This is AA&R not (inaccurate) R&N.

It proves, if proof was needed, that those who create mischief all over PPRuNe will get deleted or banned etc., That. is a function of moderators and do please understand that we have no axe to grind when we do so or do we give out reasons. Just remember that facts are needed to substantiate claims - NOT GOSSIP. Those who start a thread are responsible for its title. The rules above therefore remain the same.

I think my points have been proved accurate now. No gloating over the misfortune of those that have lost their jobs (some of whom I know). But I will gloat over any failures by Mr. Palmi Haraldsson :=
