I have just heard from Thomas Schmitt that his father died on Saturday morning. - no further details.

Charles held senior positions in the industry; he was a member of the ICAO Heliops Panel - which defined the basis for modern helicopter operations.

Up to recently he had been working with the French HEMS industry to improve standards; he was a strong advocate for PinS procedures and their use at hospitals.

RIP Charles.

His power to affect international issues somewhat diminished after his split with EHA but it did not substantially reduce his enthusiasm.

He was a champion for appropriate standards in our industry throughout his illustrious career.

RIP Charles.
