Hi Flyer

A friend of mine is coming over from India with a colleague who both need to do the JAR Radio Tel Lic Test ideally early next week (7/11). I would appreciate feedback on companies based in the London area that can do the test within the time frame.

Many thanks.

Where in London, and how far out of London are you/they prepared to travel? LHC at Redhill, Heli-Air or Helicopter Services at Wycombe; you can probably do them at a fixed-wing school, AFAIK, which opens up a few more options (Denham, Elstree, Stapleford, etc).

Thanks Pandalet - I've contacted LHC & Heli Services neither of which have come back to me yet. They will have to travel if they cannot get it done in the London area Mon/Tues/Wed of next week.

Try George Dobson at Biggin Hill School of Flying - see here (http://www.ukft.com/PDF/Worldwide%20Approved%20RT%20locations.pdf). He does a very helpful revision session beforehand, which costs a little extra, but ensures that you iron out the kinks before the test.

Do you mean the UK CAA FRTOL Practical test? There isn't a JAA test as such, it's specific to a UK issued license. Or am I confused?

I remember doing mine with an examiner at a local fixed wing flying club. At the time I was flying Gazelles. When it came to the Mayday call, I gave out the standard "mayday x3, Army 123, engine failure, north of Andover".

Oh no. He want the full hit, altitude, heading, problem, intentions etc, etc. He had difficulty understanding that after I'd said what I said, I'd be flaring into a field. :)
