I used to have a Nokia mobile. A few months ago I bought a Samsung Galaxy S2. With the Nokia I was able to set the email app not to check for emails between certain times, in my case at night, as I left the phone on and didn't wan't to be woken up by a notification chime.

Anybody know of an Android email app which has this capability?

Many thanks,

There are several apps that let you schedule when notifications are on or off.

Sound Manager is one.

Before the days of smart phones there was a thing called "switching the phone off", which guaranteed to make no noises at all at you, except of course for any alarm you'd set.

I have noticed however that as the technology "improves" phones take longer and longer and longer to start up when you switch them on, so I can understand people not wanting to do this any more.

K-9 Mail has a user-settable "Quiet Time" option.

or just go to settings accounts & sync and turnoff background data.
