Forty years ago Chris did a piece of bespoke artwork for me. Anyone know if he is still around?

He appears on Search for People, Businesses and Places - 192.com (http://www.192.com), in Devon, but you have to open an account and buy credits to access the info. They have his phone number for a fee but it is not on BT.Com

I'll be seeing him on 5th Nov at a reunion. As far as I know he no longer paints. Any message?

Tell him I'd like him to touch up the error he made in my painting bought from him in 1960s. ;)

Chris is also a regular contributor to a model aircraft magazine called RCM&E. He designs and builds some fantastic scale models.

I knew Chris in Cyprus. If he is still around, and you see him, ask him if he remembers a dogfight with a Hastings. I was on 70 and he on 43.

and he on 43

.... somebody had to be!!

Actually I only write that because it reminded me of a certain episode at Chivenor "back in the days".

Our course had just received its postings and several of my mates were off to 8 and 43 Sqns.

That evening I walked into the bar and yelled "8 and 43 is bums!". Of course, it so happened that about 70% of the staff in the bar were ex 8 and/or 43 Sqn (no surprise there really and I must have been nuts).

I was instantly surrounded by what can only be called "a hostile crowd", methinks led by a certain officer Golds. They filled one of those humungous great ash trays with about 2 pints of beer and told me that if I knew what was good for me I would drink it immediately. Naturally, they didn't bother to remove the 50 or 60 fag ends that were in the ash tray first.

Because I just drank it down in one without a murmur or whine, they then bought me a real beer to take the taste away.

I'd like to say that that episode taught me to check my surroundings before opening my mouth with any criticisms or any other such statements, but those of you that know me would laugh hysterically if I claimed that!

Chris is a prolific model designer and builder. Here's one of many...

In addition to his other talents, he is one of 'Nature's gentlemen'. I used to help with the organisation of several model aircraft meetings. He was the only flyer ever to write a 'Thank you' note. Much appreciated, as was his exceptional modelling and flying skills.
