Can anyone provide a source document or an explanation of the Distress and Diversion system within the Spanish FIR? In particular the 121.5 fixer service.

As explained above, there isn't a D&D triangulation system like in the UK, if that's what you're asking. Instead (and unlike the UK, I believe), most ATC / FIS units have VDF equipment on their published frequencies and on 121.5.
What use is made of those facilities is another story and as the above poster said, good luck might help. :uhoh:

La peņa estamos bastante golpeados; ni siquiera con ht de 320 o 330 se encuentra trabajo. Lo de Vietnam Airlines, bueno, digamos que esta inundado de pilotos EEUU, ingleses de XL, etc.
