To my knowledge this is the only video of the Deci wall. It was taken when I was on 14 Sqn, in the ninties, and includes some of the wallart in the new line hut. It is very much ground crew oriented, but it shows the pride that everybody had in their Sqn.

The 31 Sqn one was made by me in 1985 out of double bond and paint.

I'd forgotten so much! Too many Sambucas in the Quadriplegic, a bit too much Colpa Grosso and then too many beers in the Pig and Tape!

Many a hangover after a night in Smokey Joes, and Asti fights in the neuralgic bar. On the wall twice with 56(f), and XV.

Happy Days!!:D

Great to see my handy work from 20 Sqn which I spent a whole week completing in 1983 and its still there on this fantastic video.
I've got 2 photos myself but I can't work out how to post them here.

What is good, is that I never recalled it vandalised or graffitied either. Mutual respect for something with heritage, that everyone recognised stood for something meaningful and that exemplified a common bond. I hope it has survived.

I hope it has survived.

Sadly, to my knowledge, the wall has been demolished but I do hope that I am wrong.
There was talk of preserving it, but I don’t think there was any real will from anybody that could have made it happen.
To be honest it was quite an old wall and would have probably fallen to bits the moment you tried to move it.
Glad I took the video.

On another note:
When making the video, during my transit from the wall to the line hut, you see me taking shots of paint marks on the ground. Most of these Sqn badges were painted during the mid eighties after the wall became “full up”.
When I next returned to Deci in 93, these paintings had been partially or totally removed. I was informed that it was apparently due to health and safety reasons, as somebody might have slipped. It could be true as it was obvious that they had not just worn away.
I would be interested if anybody can confirm that story.

I bet the RAF's usage of the two mix metal filler fell sharply when the wall went...... :E

There was talk of it at one point being put in a frame and shipped to Hendon or the like........ such a part of RAF history and a shame if it has indeed gone.....
