Hi all,

Our boss has a favourite saying when we ask for something, "I can't see it happening" and we as a group wanted to make this our department motto!!

Does anyone have the capability to translate this saying into Latin for me, so we can add it to our home made coat of arms on our notice board?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

I used to work with a departmental head whose pet phrase was : "Leave it with me." This was translated into : "Let me sweep it under the carpet and hope it will go away" and he became known as 'sweeper' for short. His secretary was a black lady, collectively they were referred to as Sooty and Sweep.

Or perhaps, for the full Monty:

Caligaverunt oculi mei, non video, non meam introduxit me spectacula

("My eyes are dim, I cannot see, I have not brought my specs with me")

Boss ?? - try this,

Nil manageriate constantus perforatum anus

He'll never be a manager as long as he has a hole in his arse.

If you're going to deal in Latin, why not tell the truth and have as your motto:
The Gods will not permit this.
That's three words in Latin, as I remember.

That translator has some funny ideas. I typed in a well known motto and received back, 'Very lofty to star'. I'm sure that's not what Colonel Sykes of the RFC intended.

First parsed as Colonel Sanders of the KFC.

Qua ante pedes est, nemo spectat

is a favourite of mine, but Mac's the closest.

Thanks for the replies! Didn't realise so many people studied Latin these days!!

Online translators are not reliable in my experience, just seem to throw out random words.

Cheers all.

Some of the Estate Agents here use them to translate info about their properties for the English speaking market. The results can be hilarious.

Was once a Boss in Aus. who always replied with " I'll look into it "

Didn't take long for the lads to call him Mirrorman.
