Hi wondering if there were any like minded people around interested in buying a helicopter as part of a group. Was thinking maybe 4 people with around £30k each and perhaps a R44, again open to suggestions. Don't all rush now :)

Been there seen it and done it with heli group..it ended badly...there are very few heli groups/shares nationwide..that speaks volumes...go Rotorway and have it all to yourself !!!

I have been in several groups. Both fixed and rotary. Some good and some bad. Pick your partners carefully, and draw up some rules. Make sure the fixed costs (plus reserve) are covered by everyone paying a standing order every month. Also accept that it will cost more than you budget.
Let me know if you want more details. Steve.

Forget rotorway, think long and hard about investing 30 k in a heli, you might need to invest that every year!!!!

Just bought a Rotorway 162F and should have it in Fife 3-4 weeks from now
it's a used machine but it flew very well yesterday on a demo .

Hired 22's and 44's for years and fed up with the limitations, ie driving to airfields to hire and have back for the next guy etc.

thought long and hard about the pros and cons of Rotorway, and most of the detractors have not even seen one in the flesh far less sat in one or God forbid flown it !!

as a recommendation, Google the pilot John Jackson (British Helicopter Team 2012) if it's good enough for him, it's certainly good enough for us mere mortals !!

your more than welcome to check the heli out when I get it up here.

Cheers

Hi John,

Recommend you join rotorwaryownersgroup.com if you have not already. A ton of priceless knowledge there, especially on safety and maintenance.

Well if I did anything to help John's decision when we had a chat up at Takeley a few weeks back that's great :ok:

Do I know you?..........

All this fame. What with PPrune, RAF News and BBC Breakfast, I've completely forgotten my roots.

I spent a long time at Takely and really wanted an Exec, I could watch them coming and going from my office window :-) In the end I bought an R44 and it's a brilliant machine that I can lease it out to others. That said I could have bought an Exec cash for the money I've spent on the R44 in the last two years and am now looking at one again having had three years of Robinson experience. I know a guy with one still boxed in his garage :oh:
