Pros & Cons of N reg aircraft based abroad

Boss is buying a new airplane, but he is really getting tired of all the restrictions he's been having by keeping the plane registered local. These include pilots and maintenance primarily. Anyone out there operating a N reg airplane based abroad could tell me if maintenance is easier or difficult to get approvals? For pilots I believe may be little easier since contract guys can be hired (if available) in short time basis? :confused:

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

N reg makes everything easier, so long as "That country you visit most frequently" will give way and allow for it.

This is not something for a pilot to work up, but needs to be addressed by a legion of lawyers, and a platoon of taxation consultants and a squad of consultants...

the FAA isn't too bad, but could give you some headache if you have to deal with the NY office (Mr. R) and not to forget if the senate is going on vacation without approving FAA's budget

And I've never seen a Gov't work stoppage in the EU, except for that one time that comes every other month.

I have had to consider the same issues over many years. For me the reg that works the best is the M (Isle of Mann). They will validate all ICAO licences, usually within 24hrs, with the N you will always need FAA licenced crew. And they will be happy for your aircraft to be maintained to the equivalent standard as the FAA required, in other words, the manufacturers spec, they will approve any proven quality maintenance provider.
