Hi LDL-Low HDL
30th Sep 2011, 02:50
I have just been forwarded the following media release, Dual-headed Rex and Newcastle Airports Limited:

30 SEPTEMBER 2011
MEDIA RELEASE
REX TO COMMENCE NEWCASTLE SERVICES
Regional Express (Rex) today announced that it will commence* Newcastle to Sydney and Newcastle to Ballina / Byron services 7 days a week from Sunday, 30 October 2011.
Rex will provide 3 return services between Newcastle and Sydney Monday to Friday .”<snip>

In other news, the SYD-COOMA route licence is advertised in the Australian.

ive been told the Newcastle office of Aero Pelican will close soon and everyone is moving to Canberra or loosing there jobs.

How much longer can they survive? :(

Would be sad to see the pelican leave the run (if they can't withstand the competition) however competition would be welcome due to price of fares currently been offered.

Does this mean that the unconfirmed reports of Brindabella buying aeropelican are true??

Other way round as I understand it. The former Brinbabella owner will be staying on as CEO.

I f REX buys them they won't have to worry about sacking people. Within 5 mins of dealing with REX management they will be leaving in droves :Das is currently the case) and for good reason

In your mad rush to bag Rex did you even read the posts above?

Exactly JetA_OK. Well said.

Big brother, very quick to bag REX, what's your problem?

Do you deal with REX management?, have ever dealt with them? Or have you even tried to at some point?

My guess is that you haven't! Being in Adelaide, one will assume your either REX or moved from them to say Alliance? I'm guessing you were disgruntled and REX was probably best to see you go.

Your claim at this point is unsubstantiated! So provide facts or stick with the topic responsibly!

It is often the case that specialist players can carve out a profitable niche in a market. Our largest regionally-focused airline, Regional Express, may be the best of a bad bunch, but may also be a really interesting opportunity. Profitable in each of the last five years, Rex also delivers reasonable (and comparatively very impressive) returns on capital and shareholders equity.

However, Rex looks potentially quite attractive. With its share price around two-thirds of book value, Rex trading on a price/earnings ratio of less than 6, and is sporting an 8 per cent fully-franked dividend yield.
As long as management can restrict the slow but steady profit decline (or better yet start to deliver profit growth), the smallest of our trio may well deliver investors a soaring return.

BigBrother, dont take that on the chin! You are entitled to your opinion

Simple answer to this one sided, naive and most likely a management reply is the Tony Richards case! The vilification of that man by plastering friday files with onesided views, putting links on crew pages etc. is most disturbing and a sign of the lack of people/liason skills and the narcissistic mental undercurrent.

Plenty more examples SUC just ask real line pilots......

In saying that some rex managment are quite approachable, however most are very sensitive to critism and tend to target people for whatever reason...... and thus contributing to making moral/outcomes less positive. By the way, no manager at Rex as far as one could understand have ever done any courses on management and their one influence is LKH....... to me thats scary....

Business relies on the value and commitment of its staff. Treat them right and they will stay, treat them like idiots/children or enemies and they will leave. Proof is in the attrition rate. Nuf said.

Back on topic, Rex do put alot of thought into route selection so it has a very good chance of being an effective route, even if its short term. Interesting point though is Jepp ammendment 19 destroy's the Military bases app.plates! :ugh:

Jibba_jabba.

Not management and will never be. Simply thought bigbrothers post out of left field And unsubstantiated. Provide facts as you believe you have. Your comments are substantiated to YOUR opinion, unlike bb's.

You said it yourself,

In saying that some rex managment are quite approachable

But are you saying Tony did no wrong by the company, or to the company?

I believe that I would know more about it than most, so your opinion is probably very limited in sources, however you are entitled to it none the less.

Your quote was correct but let me underline the word "...some management are approachable" this was said with the view to them being reasonable in expected outcomes and rational middle ground results. Many have found that management have authoritarian and harsh treatment of the people they require to be team players! Ironic to say the least, fuelling the low moral and fanning the flames of resignations!

I do not need to debate facts with you, but do like a vigorous debate every now and then, but agree that as this is a public discussion forum, comments by some will be out of left field, but still may hold truth and should not be scorned unless clearly wrong.

And yes, your correct, you would be a complete noob to suggest 100% of people in ANY organisation were not effective in their role or good for the business; The CAVEAT to that is usually the upper powers that be, can have major deficiencies in their character/view/liason skills and this has shown on many occasions in the proverbial ****e rolling down the hill with how they treat people, lack of resources, pay, timeoff, workload etc etc.

Also, don’t forget, that management pilots forgoe the EBA in place for remuneration and whatever package they receive/negotiate. But they choose that, and so have no regard for the EBA. Hence can ****e on Pilots conditions as much as they want because it really does not effect them greatly.

Thus one would have to draw the conclusion that the attrition rate is a culmination of conditions and suggests problems in upper management in keeping qualified and decent staff. Nuf said permanently. :ok:

Back on topic part two: Did anyone find the jepp amendment a little strange with regards to the miltary bases?

Back on topic part two: Did anyone find the jepp amendment a little strange with regards to the miltary bases?

Yes.

Consider most airlines fly there regularly or have them as alternates. Pearce, Williamstown, Richmond just to name a few.

Ridiculous.

In another twist has any one had problems unloading the latest revision pack on the iPad?

Talking to Jeppesen, it appears that it was an error on Jeppesen's behalf to delete them and they will be back in the 14th October Amendment.
