An Air France Airbus 319 flight #AF558 from N'djamena -Tchad- to Paris diverted to Hassi Messaoud South of Algeria at about 1800 gmt (22 SEPT) du to accordind to the captain via control tower, a loud bang followed by smoke coming from the lavatory.
The following morning the aircraft was still in the parking.

Is that an extended range 319 ? Seems to be a rather long route...
Any specifics about the incident itself ?

Well unless Hassi has changed in the 10+ years since I used to go there, they will have had a lot of trouble finding accommodation for the passengers as all I ever saw of any reasonable standard was compounds for the oil companies.
